Looks like Danner was driving in his Toyota pickup and the path they took was west up Arroyo Amarillas or what we like to call the road to Hidden Valley. Then they took the crossover/connector to Chanate.

Have you noticed that the Benchmark Atlas does not show Amarillas like the Almanac does?

Who is 'Danner'? A Nomad?
Since you added roads and places to the 2023 Atlas, did you suggest Arroyo Las Amarillas be added?
Did you submit "C a r d e n" Forest? Was that supposed to be Cardón?
Since I am a map and Spanish places spelling nerd, well, you know... LOL[Nomad does not allow Card## so I double spaced it... Is that a curse word? Doug?]

from Wornout 1-22-24:

This week's desert run (on FRIDAY, January 26th) will be through the Huatamote Canyon. We will meet at the tires at 9:00 AM. The route will be west from the tires, then south at Morela Junction. Once we get down south, we will head east through Huatamote Canyon, to Old Puertecitos Road, and from there, we will head north to town. The trip is about 75 miles.

At the junction of Parral branch and Huatamote the rocks were enormous and not passable.

Just showing the two sources for that location where the Wornout run was turned around. Just in case folks do not know about that location.

Thank you. Neither map has names or labels at those zoom levels. The Relive video map is a good overview as it shows where they turned around.
Wornout hinted that the next run might go to this blockage from the east side of the mountain/hills.

The rocks wont change any time soon, but a more experienced group will improve the success going east or west.

From Wornout:
This week we will meet at the tires at 9:00 am. We will be going south in the arroyo between east and west valley road. We will enter this arroyo at the entrance to Tulare Canyon. The round trip run should be around 50 miles. Of course we may do some exploring while on this run.
