Shaw Direct - what's up with afternoon drop in signal?

Anyone have any idea why stations drop signal as it gets dark? We have seen this lately and it drives us crazy. We turned on the system pre-dawn and signal strength was in the 90's. Now, at 5:30, it's in the 50's-60's and sometimes goes red.
Dog gone it!

We are acquainted with the G1 satellite problem. This has to do with channels that work all day, then fade away in the evening. Weird!
