San Evaristo
Anyone taken the road west out of San Evaristo since the summer storms? Wondering what condition the road is in, especially the steep climb into the
mountains just south of town

It is a heavily traveled road, so my guess is it is fine.

They cater to the Baja Divide Bike Riders.
I would bet they have the latest intel...
I drove east to San Evaristo on that road (in 2017) then south to La Paz.
While it was a graded road, traffic was pretty light (I saw no other cars on it) and it was less maintained than the road from La Paz. 4WD would make
that climb easier and should always be standard equipment on any backcountry Baja trip.

I have no current information for you, it has been two years since I drove that grade. The section between La Soledad and the coast road to San Juan
de La Costa is very lightly used and I doubt that it would see any maintenance until all other roads are repaired.
Even two years ago the grade was slow enough that I let my dog run ahead of me. I encountered no other vehicles and she doesn't bother the cattle
along the road.
By the way, the old road through La Soledad had been closed off, and a new by-pass was cut into the hills on the south side of town. It was not done
very well, and may be a concern for being washed out as well.
Unless you are driving a heavy camper or towing something, that road is cool enough to be worth a gamble on being passable. If you go that way, be
sure and report back on what you found,
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

I took this route last year and it was fine, but the rain events this summer may have changed the conditions considerably. I sent a message to the
restaurant in San Evaristo. Thanks
