6th Annual Baja Nomad "Dia de Reyes Toy Drive" Jan 15, 2012

6th Annual Dia de Reyes Toy Drive, January 15th 2012
Yes, for 6 consecutive years now, thanks to all of you we will be delivering individualy wrapped gifts for over 350 children. This will happen on January 15 and of course you are all invited to join us for this unique experience of giving.
As in years past, the children will have transportation provided to them courtesy of Mexicoach, they will have piñatas, tamales, frijoles, arroz, hot chocolate and Rosca de Reyes and a brand new toy.

Once again the good people of BajaBound Insurance Services, Inc. have kindly offered to be a drop off location for gifts either hand delivered or shipped.

The information is:
Toy Drive c/o Baja Bound Insurance Services, Inc.
750 11th Avenue #101
San Diego, CA 92101
Phone (619) 702-4292

Last year we didn't ask for wrapping paper since we had left over from past events but this year we need wrapping paper and tape so we can give each toy gift wrapped. We request new toys, bikes (bikes can be used but in good working conditions), dolls and such. If you'd like you can send gift cards for ToysRUs or other stores like Walmart that have toy departments and you can even do electronic gift certificates for Toys R Us and email them to fernando@ultimatebaja.com . We request no money, but donations are greatly appreciated because they do help pay for the food and transportation provided that day.

I will have a list of the kids gender and age shortly but all gifts like basketballs, soccer balls, bikes, Tonkas and all others are welcome. As you know from past years, we have to smuggle the gifts across in small ammounts and that takes a long time and several people helping make many trips across so the sooner we can get the gifts in the faster we can start the smuggling operations ;D

Thank you so much in advance for making this Toy Drive once again possible,
Fernando Garcia y familia

Fernando - I will be there, I love this event! Ken, happy you will be there and look forward to meeting your wife. Your photography allows Nomads who are not able to attend a chance to share in this Grand Event.
David K, we can always use an additional photographer if you can join us, your photo logs of Baja are most helpful to all of us who travel Baja.
Happy Holidays Everyone!

hey Ferna

i'll be sending some gift certs again. also, you might want to rewrite this sentence. i'm a little confused by what you are trying to say:

"We request no money, it does help pay for the food and transportation provided that day."

Fernando, I will take gifts again to the insurance company you have listed but the one in Chula Vista is not helping out taking them again this year? I will also give money again to help get some food items you need made for the event. I really hope no doctor appointments for myself or wife at the date of the event are scheduled, so I can attend this year. I really like to meet other nomads and Ken & I need to meet up to talk about Jeep Runs,LOL. Take Care & Travel Safe--- "No Hurry, No Worry, Just FUN" bajafun777

Same here Ferna, maybe remove "it" and insert "but a donation"... does help for...

Thanks Woody and David, I changed it.

As for bicycle donations, those can be used bikes but please in working conditions, if we need to make minor adjustments, that is fine. What we do want to avoid is having to look for parts and not be able to give them away because they don't work properly and might not be safe for the kids.
Gracias

Are there still Green Dot cards? If so you might mention that to people. I was a last minute contributor last year and that was really handy. I'd like to send a check this year since I'm not procrastinating. Who do I write it to? And where do I send it, Baja Bound?

Thank you goldhuntress, yes we can do it that way also, if someone is interested in contributing in a monetary manner, we don't have a Paypal account but we have something similar and that is a Green Dot card. How this works is that you can purchase at almost every CVS /pharmacy, RiteAid, Wallgreens, 7 Eleven, Kmart or even WalMrat a Green Dot Money Pack for any ammount from $20 and up.

Once purchased, just scratch off at the back and you can U2U me the numbers and that will really help us to make this event succesfull.
Gracias
Fernando

i did this last year with no problem. gonna do it again! c'mon people, there are a lot of kids that need a gift!

I will be making a toy delivery to Baja Bound Insurance Services soon. I am in Newport Beach, so if you have anything that you would like me to deliver please contact me.
My daughter and I have participated in this event for a few years now, and the experience is fantastic. Fernando spends a great amount of time working on this event, and BajaNomad support makes it all happen.
Kids are very appreciative of your support!

We have but only a little over a month to gather all these toys, please start sending them, it is you that makes this happen!
The most time consuming part of this is realy the getting the toys from the US across into Mexico, it takes many trips so we need to start soon.
Saludos y gracias

While i'm sure they would be helping us, (Jackson Hewitt) their office is closed until January when its tax time. I guess the economy has gotten to them also.
At this point BajaBound is it.
