Baja Angel and I just returned from 3 days of fun and rest, Baja style!
Went south Thursday night, dinner at Chela's in Puerto Nuevo, and arrived Baja Cactus (El Rosario) about 1:30 am. Antonio was there and still at
work!! High speed satellite Internet is coming soon into each room, plus a pair of PCs in the lobby for those without lap tops.
Friday was a lot of siesta and we went to work on a town map to help visitors find services and points of interest in El Rosario. Bedman and Emma
stopped by to say hi, on their way home from Camp Gecko at L.A. Bay.
Saturday we were going to do an off road trip into the mountains northeast from El Rosario but opted to take a 3 hour trip to L.A. Bay instead (hoping
to find Mike and Mary Ann Humfreville at their new home on the bay)... Back to Baja Cactus at 11:15pm (3 hours after leaving Casa Humfreville, details
and photos coming).
Today (Sunday) we met some new friends from Vermont on their first trip to Baja (inspired by reading Baja Nomad), and they promissed to register here
and post a trip report! We stopped by La Lobera and Mision Santo Domingo on the way home... Dinner at the Half Way House (awesome again)... Border
line (TJ) at 9:08pm and the wait was 38 minutes ...

Looks like you guys had a great three day trip to Baja. Can't wait to read the trip report and see more photos. The Humfreville casa view is
fantastic to say the least.
Audrey and I just got back Sat night from Yucantan - four days early due to Hurricane Wilma, one mother of a storm that just wiped out Cancun and
Cozumel. What a time we had getting back, but the Myan ruins are not to be missed. More on that later on.
David, as always, you have so much to share. It's all good!

Yes Tomas, I am okay with night driving for ME... Afterall, I turned 16 the year Mex. 1 was finished and drove on it that year and ever since... I
know it pretty well, but I never underestimate it...
I don't recommend night driving to newbies foir 2 reasons... 1) Safety... range and wild animals on the road, suicide truckers and no shoulders, etc.
2) The view! YOU miss too much to see in the central desert at night.
To El Rosario you are not missing any cactus gardens and the range cattle are mostly south of Rosario... The highway does narrow at Km. 0 south of San
Quintin (the newest section of the highway), but that is only about 25 miles from Rosario...

Sorry Robert, but the sky was just too gloomy to provide good panorama shots at El Rosario's two mission sites... I will try again when I return over

I might add that Baja Cactus is the only place in El Rosario with a 24 hour staffed front desk/office for those of us who arrive late! I also suggest
making a reservation and do tell them what your estimated arrival time is... maybe offer to secure the room if their is no doubt of your arrival. The
motel's new rooms are now mostly booked full as travelers and businessmen have discovered this ultra modern, yet still inexpensive inn. The original
'Motel El Rosario' rooms built by Antonio's dad may be available. Ask to see one of the new rooms, before you leave, if you could not stay in one.
