VIVA BAJA CACTUS PREVIEW/ RESERVATION DETAILS (wine, beer, food, fun) Nov. 4, 2006

David K - 9-29-2006 at 08:25 PM

Nearly ONE month to go, time to get serious about reserving your seat on the bus! Now here are some of what we will see/do (also photos of Antonio and family from last Wednesday night)...

The email established to make your reservations is viva@bajacactus.com for paypal link (credit/debit card) or to get address to mail a check in.

The price is $20 per person for the round trip bus from San Ysidro (U.S. side) parking lot or the CECUT museum parking lot in Tijuana for Baja residents joining us for a day of fun from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

We will likely tour the Baja California Museum, L.A. Cetto winery/bottling facility, Tijuana Brewery, Tijuana Wax Museum, snacks and 'sample drinks' gratis and the last 2-3 hours at a great restaurant for time to get to know each other, hear from some Baja authors or share your Baja tales with your friends (new and old)... Antonio is still thinking of ways we all can have a great time at the least cost. So the all day bus and dinner will likely be the only cost to you.

Like my previous Viva Baja parties, the idea is for us on the Internet to meet each other, which inspires closer relationships, learn some new things about Baja, think of some ways to keep our Baja experiences positive and perhaps be made aware of something we can help improve.

Like Antonio's (BajaCactus) previous cultural festivals, the idea is to show a part of Baja that most tourists don't experience typically, to meet new amigos/Nomads, to provide information to make future Baja vacations more enjoyable and to help you have a great Baja time!

Now, I do ask if you would like to be a part of this to email Antonio and I at viva@bajacactus.com and reserve your seat because we need to reserve the bus or buses (45 people each) to transport us and will free us to enjoy the city of Tijuana without the traffic or long border wait!

Now for the photos I took Wednesday (9-27-06)...

Mostly sea food, this was a high end ($$$) eatery, and we decided it was not the place for us to enjoy Viva Baja Cactus.

The salmon was excellent as was the duck... and desserts great too...

Okay amigos, I am here in Tijuana posting from Antonio's Internet Cafe...

Today we visited CECUT and the Baja California museum, which is one of the planned stops for the Nov. 4th fiesta.

Food is so great here in Tijuana... Breakfast at La Esquina was awesome and dinner at the taco stands near the university- airport was great with shrimp and fish tacos!

Have a great weekend and stay tuned for further updates!

Anyway, please continue to email us if you want to join your fellow Baja Nomads and other Baja amigos at viva@bajacactus.com

David K - 10-1-2006 at 07:34 PM

Just a big thank you to all the Nomads who already have reserved their seats for Viva Baja Cactus 2006!

Antonio works so hard for us and it is a big thrill for his efforts to entertain us when the outcome is successful.

Again, a quick peek to his first Tijuana festival in 2004 that was attended by over 70 Baja Nomads: http://vivabaja.com/fiesta

the most important question is:

BajaVida - 10-2-2006 at 05:03 PM

is a bus a common carrier which allows us to bring more than one litro of wine back to the US?

sounds like a ball

David K - 10-8-2006 at 06:50 AM

BajaVida, Antonio is contacting the U.S. consulate to ask if that is possible.

Get on board... Baja Cactus and Viva Baja events are always a lot of fun!
RSVP to viva@bajacactus.com limited seats if you want the pleasure of riding a bus to all our stops and back to the U.S. vs. driving through Tijuana!

David K - 10-16-2006 at 08:57 PM

More door prizes, including Baja books, a painting by El Rosario's Hugo Lopez, free nights at Baja Cactus Motel (the finest in Baja)!

The bus is over 50% full... Don't wait until it's too late (if you want to ride with us)!

RSVP to viva@bajacactus.com

was gone for sometime

fdt - 10-20-2006 at 03:09 PM

but would like to attend, is there a $ to pay?, Since I'm already in Tijuana would not need the bus.
saludos

Cypress - 10-20-2006 at 03:27 PM

David K, Looks like you are having good times with good people. Thanks for the pics.

David K - 10-21-2006 at 10:44 AM

Thanks Cypress... the really good times will be when all the Baja loving people get together in 2 weeks... Saturday, NOV. 4... JOIN US!

Ferna... Yes, several Baja Nomads from Tijuana and Ensenada will hop on the special bus at CECUT (where they will leave their cars in the pay lot)... This way traffic, parking, and drinking/driving is not a problem!

Carlos Fiesta, and maybe others cannot make the tour but want to join us for the afternoon social time and dinner (at a restaurant still to be determined).

I will (or Antonio will) post the name and location of that restaurant here on Nomad...

The bus seat is $20 and you must RSVP to viva@bajacactus.com Tell us how many seats and if you want to pay by check or pay pal with a card...
We will send you the Pay Pal link for a credit/debit card or the U.S. P.O. box to mail a check.

Don't delay Nomads... one week remains to RSVP!!! Two weeks to party!!!

David K - 10-21-2006 at 10:51 AM

We want the U.S. Nomads to be in San Ysidro at 10 am... the bus will leave 30 minutes after that time SHARP.

Our first stop will be CECUT for the Baja museum tour... Mexico Nomads will join us there, then hop on the bus for the remainder of the day.

Any changes will be posted on Nomad.

The bus is about 3/4 FULL... RSVP TODAY amigos!

FERNA!

M - 10-21-2006 at 12:59 PM

Goodness, it's sure nice to hear from you! There don't seem to be that many original 'Amigo's' left, and I always enjoy a blast from the past. Glad to hear your going to make it, I've a big hug for you...

I'm looking forward to this trip. As the short movie goes, "Tijuana makes me happy!" :bounce:

::Tijuana makes me happy::

David K - 10-21-2006 at 06:54 PM

The latest details are at this thread: http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=19612

You have 1 week left to RSVP your bus seat... don't delay, as once the first bus is full, we will need about 30 more before being able to have a second bus.

The party is in 2 weeks... we have many door prizes... 1 free ticket to each bus passenger... Baja books, a Hugo Lopez painting, Baja Cactus Motel free stay, etc.

RSVP: viva@bajacactus.com (Pay Pal with a card or mail in a check) the number of seats and payment type and we will respond.

That's sure going to be a Party Bus! I can't wait!!

David K - 10-25-2006 at 08:19 AM

Email from Antonio this morning has the bus count at 41!!!

More sites added to the tour and a great location for the dinner!

The Mexican tourism board is providing a bilingual guide to accompany us all day and will describe the city sites along the way to each location we will visit.

The dinner will include around 14-16 dishes and we will be in our own private upstairs room for our social hour, Baja talk, etc. The dinner will include beer or sodas and Antonio is negotiating a good price for us...

The only change to the schedule is that we need to leave the parking lot at 10 am sharp... so arrive at 9:30 and as soon as everyone is there, we will head to CECUT for our first tour... Mexico Nomads arrive at CECUT at 10 am for the 10:30 start of the tour. All day parking at CECUT is only 20 pesos! The wax museum visit was dropped to take in more at another stop.

Fun fun fun... Only 4 seat left! Did you wait too long to join your Baja Nomad friends? Unless a last minute surge of Nomads RSVPs us, we will be in one bus... others can follow in their cars.

The restaurant location GPS will be provided soon, if you can't make the tour and want to meet us there... Carlos Fiesta (BajaExpo.com) will be doing just that.
