The good Lord does not subtract time spent fishing. Plus you get to eat the product of your labor and those calories don`t count!!!!

EnsenadaDr - 6-2-2014 at 06:44 AM

very true!! Omega fatty acids from fish are very helpful in combating cholesterol and other inflammatory conditions.

Thanks Dr for the video, I am a walker with arthritis in my hip and knee but I still walk. If I discontinue the walks for two or three days I notice the pain increasing.

Of course you all know that living a healthy lifestyle is just the slowest way to die.

mike odell - 6-2-2014 at 07:35 PM

I asked my Doc, Do you think I could live to be a 100?
He asked me, do you eat red meat or other meats? Nope I said, never have.
Do you drink or use any drugs? Smoke, Chase Women,Get out in the sun,
Stay up late? No, I never have done any of these things, I only eat vegan,
Drink purified water, Doc said, yep, chances are you will live to 100,
but from 85 on,you will be in the hospital dying of nothing!!!!!!!

BajaLuna - 7-20-2014 at 09:55 AM

Investigate if you are allergic to any foods, food can be a healer but it also can be quite the opposite. So many people don't associate certain foods they eat on a daily basis as part of their health issues. For instance, My grandson was sick for 4 months, congestion, coughing, mucus, upper respiratory in general...went to many doctors, all of them said if he's not better in 2 weeks come back, finally one Dr (a naturopath, oh the horror), on the first visit said, lets test him for food allergies, sure enough allergic to dairy, wheat, gluten, chicken eggs, whey, casein (sp). Within 1 week of changing his diet, he was 100% well.

cut down on or cut out anything white, rice, potatoes, refined sugar, white flour.. etc.

It's amazing to me when you get out of shopping at the grocery chains and move into stores who offer more than just what the U.S. can grow for cheap...the world of flours opens up, I had no idea how many different kinds of flours there are in the world, myself and my grandson being gluten and wheat intolerant, I've been having a lot of fun exploring baking, bread making, desserts etc with so many more healthier flours!

what is your opinion Doc, on food being a culprit for health issues?

BajaLuna - 7-20-2014 at 09:58 AM

P.S. it's a subject that fascinates, this is why I ask!

I think I am allergic to potatoes and the nightshade family of plants in general.

EnsenadaDr - 7-20-2014 at 10:01 AM

They are related!! I didn't know that.

YES, bummer...my beloved tomatillos are in that family. I didn't know either until recently how many plants we eat are in this family. First year I haven't grown potatoes, eliminates the temptation to eat them LOL!

EnsenadaDr - 7-20-2014 at 10:39 AM

Just curious, what happens when you eat something from that family, who would guess tomatillos are related to potatoes.

I have noticed that, and I agree. However, this particular thread opened with some interesting and informative and humorous comments, and yours was the first baiting comment that causes so many of the other threads to degenerate into cluttering an otherwise interesting thread with endless trading of childish, useless barbs. In this case, yours was the first comment in an otherwise informative thread prodding it into the usual waste of bandwidth, and if there was a tone set by another poster it went over my head.

I'd say that's what you missed. Dr. Nada has publicly asked our wonderful Looney-Toon master to step in on her behalf (and, in another thread I might add, asked Elvis if he was mad at her for not cooperating), and she led off bringing it into this thread, lumping the entire CooPlatoon into persecutors of her victimization.

bajabuddha - 7-21-2014 at 03:52 PM

PRESCRIPTION:
Take daily @ 5:00 p.m.

In a 16 oz. glass mixing glass at least 1/2 filled w/ cracked ice add:
4 - 6 oz. Vodka or Gin of your choosing (I use Stoli's when available)
1 tsp. dry vermouth
1 tsp. Mexican olive brine

Stir for 30-50 rev's, depending on size of ice cubes
Strain into 2 martini glasses
Garnish with 2 Mexican olives (from Martha's in San Lucas, or the tienda of your choice)
Twist one slice of yellow lemon peel above the drink, rub the glass rim thoroughly

Enjoy with a friend, or put 2nd drink in the fridge for a little while later.

and......SLOW THE PACE........

(p.s.: out of Martha's olives, am using Greek Calamata dark olives at the nonce, gives a pretty pink 'tinge' to the 'tini.)

freediverbrian - 7-21-2014 at 06:22 PM

if you quit smoking and drinking eat well and live five years longer in a assisted living facility is it worth it ?

bledito - 7-22-2014 at 02:54 PM

i've heard that the fasting boosts your ability to fight off infection and disease. haven't tried it but i heard it somewhere. I think moving to baja will help a lot. less stress better food no GMO's fresh fruits and veggies and lottsa fish. all washed down with a tequila or two.

Oh, please... Nobody comes to this forum for general health info. There are other forums and web-pages for that. And this time it wasn't Motoged that side-tracked the thread, if you check the very 1st response on the very 1st page. Could've been Motoged. Or could've been most any of several hundred people hanging around here. In some other place this would've been called "spam". But when noise level is that high, there isn't much you can do. Many threads at Baja Nomads degenerate, takes very little push to steer it this way. People are bored and tequila is cheap, blame Mex government for that :)

Absolutely. Doubly true for hospitals.

Oh yeah. One more. Go vegan. That's good for a lot of animals' health too!

I am happy to learn that I don't have to walk for hours to benefit. I put off walking some days because I didn't have allot of time to do it and now I see I can benefit from even 20 minutes of walking.

Thanks for the info.

I can't help but to think that two months ago I switched over to mostly a vegan diet (OK, plus a little fish).

Guy you forgot to mention all the cooked in animal fat goodies at the JT that I've seen you pack away. French fries, steak smothered in sauteeded garlic cloves, etc etc. But then I shouldn't talk, I'm right there packing away those same goodies.

bajabuddha - 7-23-2014 at 03:58 PM

12 oz. curls. Great exercise. Start with a 12 oz. can/bottle of beer. Lift 12 oz, then 11, then 10, 9, etc.... add 'em up x 6 and you lift about 27 lbs. a six-pack! I like to switch arms between each bottle (more weight from the glass) so one arm doesn't balloon over the other one.
