Snowing like crazy over Donner Summit, chain control as low as three thousand feet and I-80 closed for part of the day. Below that, enough hail to
turn the ground white!
As a special Christmas Eve treat, a tornado formed near Folsom Lake and did touch and go's headed east through Camron Park and El Dorado Hills!
Damage doesn't appear to be great, but the news is showing smashed cars, trees down, and lots of roof and fence damage.
Careful out there Saint Nick!

It is 7pm, and IT IS SNOWING RIGHT NOW IN BIG PINE! Lots of snow in the high Eastern Sierra, , but now some down here in the valley! I hope it stays
around long enough for us to wake up to a White Christmas!
We need severl years like this to begin to fill all the empty resevoirs in California! Let it Snow, Let it Snow.
On edit, it is 7 minutes later and it quit! We hope it comes back, but at least it is falling high up!

Looks like the southern Sierras are a bit behind the average snowpack for this date. But the central and northern Sierras are considerably ahead.
Yes, and we hope it continues! It will take a number of years of really good snow to get us out of the drought. Traveling around California, the
lakes and reservoirs are a disaster. They are really sad to see!
To soften the blow a bit, government agencies are reporting that snowpack is 130% of normal in the Colorado plateau region that feeds into Lake Powell
and lake Mead.
I realize that it is not a quick fix, but historically El Nino conditions usually cause the most precipitation in late January on through March.
