Thank you David
This is so interesting!!
I am trying to find my little Rancho near El Chorro Hot Springs.
I just bought it a few months ago and it is like the garden of Eden in that area. It is a ten minute walk to the Hotsprings. The locals call my place
Rancho Chivarito.
JR would be so proud of me as it is definitely not a "Gringo enclave" Hee!! Hee!! I am the only one in town with blue eyes. Giggle!!

Okay, at the bottom of the image is the La Mision river valley and you can see the white buildings of the Pyramid Resort/ Plaza del Mar just north of
La Fonda... Not a high resolution area, so not real clear...

No, Okie Landing (or Okie's Landing) is south of Nacho's El Huerfanito and just south of the Miramar gold and onyx mines.
All that remains of the 1960's fisherman's resort are some cement pads along the rocky little cove and the cave that once was the ice room.
I will post some pictures in a day or two.
Last time we drove by, there was a sign announcing the name Okie's Landing. Perhaps a resort will return?

Yes, and from each location link you can zoom in or out and scroll off the edge of the posted image and 'fly over' Baja... Follow roads you wondered
where they went, etc.

I just went to Ascuncion and looked at the point that I think Shari and Juan are on. If that is the point then you can see how it relates to an island
off the point and to the topography inland from them. Very interesting.
Thanks again, I know I will spend a lot of time with these. What a great resource.

Happy that this Thread has been brought up again - I didn't notice it, when sifting through diverse threads last couple months.
Great to see that David has taken his time to provide direct links, for those who can not spend much time on the PC.
I'm a map addict, love to search for places from space. Then go there and see them for REAL.
SO , NOW which bay has Dough been!!!!!!!!
I wan to go there for REAL, with my family!!!!

I just noticed that the photos of L.A. Bay are fairly recent as they show the new gas station and traffic circle that are not much more than a year
old...

East Cape Region now high resolution!
I was just checking and saw that many more areas of Baja have been upgraded to high resolution on Google's satellite images... I updated San Ignacio
and Santiago and added Agua Caliente (near Santiago) and Miraflores to the list 'Along Hwy. 1'...

Here's a famous water hole next to El Camino Real, just north of the L.A. Bay highway...

David----
Tinaja de Yubay------
How much of a walk (how far) is it from the end of the veh. route to the actual "historical" water hole?
It looks like there are several smaller water holes downstream from the "big" one-----true???

Yes Barry... if it has been wet not long before your hike, then there is one big and other small tinajas before the true Yubay... Which you will know
by the wild fig growing from the rock cliff to the left of the famous waterhole.
The hike is about 1/2 mile... You park where the road ends in the big sand arroyo... then find the Camino Real shortcut to Yubay by hiking straight
across the arroyo from where the road drops into it. Zoom in with Google image and you can see some of that trail, which goes over a rise and drops
you into the true Yubay arroyo... there you simply hike upstream.
See my web page from when we hiked in (Mike Humfreville and his son Miguelito, El Camote, Desert Rat, my kids and I)... Debra passed out a few hundred
feet short of the water hole (see humorous photo of her with a cell phone and Viva baja sticker): http://vivabaja.com/van1/page5.html with GPS data.
A better collection of photos at Yubay (with more GPS waypoints, incl. the Camino Real) was taken by Neal and Marian Johns at http://vivabaja.com/neal2
