Give me a Tecate in a can with a lime any day. In fact back when the cans were tin, it was even better. If I can't have that make it Pacifico unless we are going fancy, then Bohemia. The dark beer from the Tijuana Brewery was actually pretty good too.

Mexicali ruled in the 50s but Tecate rules today.

Mismo ??

There was an article in the Los Angeles Times awhile back about Imported Mexican Beer which stated, among other things, that the NAFTA agreement REQUIRED as of a certain date that the beer had to be standardized to comply with U.S. requirements and that the domestic and imported versions were consequently the same. I know for a fact that this is now true as to Alcohol content. Previously, Corona Extra and Tecate listed their domestic beer at "less than 6 % Alcohol". The new bottles in BOTH the U.S. and Mexico list them at 4.5 %.

As to quality, my " Amigo Aleman" flatly states that Tecate HAS to be the BEST. Why ? The brewery was started by an immigrant German Brewmeister.

Myself, I usually BUY Corona Extra, BUT, as I stated elsewhere, I drink and enjoy them all.

si! Don Julio tambien,

but have you tried Sauza Galardon? i'm telling you - it is, well was, incredible. it was a limited release and no more around un less old stock. The last bottle i know of it is in Boston believe it or not and MASS laws prevent them from shipping it to me. i tried.

this thread reminds me of a typical baja beach party. First it started with "what kind of beer do you enjoy?" and has slowly degraded(or upgraded) to tequila shots and slurred speach. I think I passed out after captain George had me drink another round last night and then woke up today hungover. I would have lit of the mandatory M1000 rocket to wake up the kids in the tent but then realized after stubbing my toe on asphalt that I wasnt in baja.

All I need now is a box of sand to stick my toes in and Im almost there.....

beer

I still lament the demise of those little dark "hand grenades" in a bottle: Modelo ???? We used to call them "fist kegs"!!!
And I must say... a fine medium brew. Probably why I now go exclusively for Modelo Especial in cans. Less weight and no rattling around off-road; just add a little slice( yeh, I know, real men don't put Fruit in their beer!!!) and they go down just fine around Cerveza y media pm. Also , what happenned to Superior in a bottle? It was a fine headache on many an afternoon!:barf:

Squat Brown Bottles

Back in the late 60s and 70s South of San Felipe, the only beer anybody seemed to have were these short brown bottles of Corona. It was fairly skunky, but better than nothing. I remember stopping at one small cantina out in the middle of nowhere on the road to Gonzaga where they had no refrigeration, but kept the beer in a well out back. Cool, not cold, but still OK.

I am one of the two people who voted "other".
My Baja beer is Indio. It's not imported so I drink PACIF- HIC - ICO here.
Tequila? There are many good ones and I am still trying new ones.
The best without a doubt is Real Hacienda.

I remember the old tinny Tecate taste.

Sometimes, when I can't get to Baja because of work and family obligations like at this moment, I go into my seed room and pull out a few Tecates I keep stored there at room temp.

I sip those lousy, luke- cool Tecates, and it reminds me of there while I am here. My garden helps too.

To be perfectly HONEST! Some of US Chubbies have switched to Tecate Lite! After ALL we live in Baja , so it's readily available MUCH of the time!
Cervasa Time seems to come up far more often here!!:tumble::tumble:
