Propane Generator

We are interested in getting a Propane Generator about 6-8 KW. Is there a way of getting one in Mexico. We need it in Los Barriles. We like the Guardian 7KW, but the options to get it there are limited.

Does anyone in La Paz or Cabo sell them?

Can you buy one n Mexico and get it shipped to Los Barriles?

How much is the duty on Generators?

Duty

I can't address the availability questions, but the duty would be no more than 19 % of the purchase price before tax.

The last time I paid duty, the import rate for U.S. produced goods was 17 % and for goods produced in Japan, China, etc was 19 %.

The duration of a hurrican power outage along with no gasoline has led us to the conclusion that propane is the only way to fly. At 450 pounds or so, we would like to find a source in Mexico.

Salsa

There are generators for sale in La Paz, but you would have to convert it to Propane.

If you don't know anybody who is coming down in an RV, who could buy one and stick it in the RV for you, then what I would do is approach some RV's in your area and make them an offer for theirs. They can take the money and get another when back in the States.

I purchased a used propane Onan 6500 here in San Felipe 7 years ago and it is still going strong, well, it is still going. I have replaced the starter solenoid, the coil and had a valve replaced on one head, still for 7 years service, I am happy.
