As we used the older, coastal graded road, when we left La Bocana we came out to the newer route which was well signed...

Not far from La Bocana we spotted a road onto the salt flats next to the long La Bocana lagoon. As it was a quarter moon, the tides were not flooding
the flats and that made for fast, smooth drive.
Here is the lagoon...

We drove around Abreojos hoping to find Fishin' Rich or other Nomads without luck (it's a big place)... Then we drove out to the point where people
camp and are some beach homes...
Abreojos was 63 miles from Asuncion and took us 2 hours and 15 minutes (with stops).

12 miles from Abreojos, on a side road is Campo Rene on the Estero el Coyote... Restaurant, cabins, camping, airport...

Back out to the main road (2.8 miles from Rene) then turn north for San Ignacio... 5.1 miles later we come to the new pavement! That means pavement is
about 10 miles from reaching Abreojos.

David, this is the exact same route we want to take in October on our way to Mulege. Will the cabover camper rig fare well on these dirt roads?

it's all on a AAA map, for crying out loud.
One error in description, if I understand you correctly. On the text with the first shot of Campo Renee, it says Asuncion. I think you meant Abreojos.

it has been 24 years since i landed at campo Rene. i see its changed a lot.
the WX report another thread sure is inviting!
can you give us a pirep on the airstrip's condition there from your visit's perspective? were any planes there during your drive thru?
any campers? i think a tent and basics would be fine, skip the cabins.
