La Paz
Any recommendations for a campground in La Paz? We travel in a 31' motorhome and will only be in La Paz for a couple of days in early Feb 2010. Thanks

You can get 40 footers and larger in the spots.

Campestre Maranatha looks very nice. Is it too far to take a taxi from there to downtown La Paz? We have to sign some papers and a couple of other
tasks and aren't familar with La Paz at all and thought it would be easier to park the camper for a couple of nights.
On our previous La Paz trips we've been lucky to have been escorted to various locations because it was easier than trying to explain how to get
there! I remember thinking at the time "we never would have found this ourselves and it would be a pain in the butt to find parking for our
big truck". Maybe navigating in La Paz isn't as bad as I remember...?
I can't remember the name of the campground we stayed in '04 to ask if it's still open. It was near the water and next to a "fun zone" with kiddie
rides and a rock climbing wall. Ring a bell with anyone? That one was very convenient to use a basecamp for downtown business.
I'd like to give Maranatha a try if it's not too far outside of town. Do they have an email contact so I could confirm they weren't full from caravans
ahead of time?

Richard and Marilou closed the Aquamarina RV park a couple of years ago. They finally retired. It was the one on the water with all the trees.

Thanks Jack. The one I'm thinking of wasn't the Aquamarina. I looked on Google earth and found the place where we stayed. The cross streets are
Brecha California and Tesoro near a beach called El Conchalito. It had a pool and showers in the center with full time and overnight RV spots.

Ron, just drove out to Brecha California and Tesero. It is closed, dark, gated, and nobody around. I know the RV park, it was open a few years back,
but not now. Sorry.

one RV park 'in' La Paz...C. Maranathe. don't waste your time looking for anything else or formerly there. that's the only option.
reality\'s never been of much use out here...

I received an email from a park in La Paz that only rents by the year. He mentioned Casa Blanca. I emailed back that I had heard that Casa Blanca had
a closed sign. The next day he emailed me back saying that he had driven over and Casa Blanca is open. He says the problem is that when caravans fill
up the place they put up a closed sign vs full etc. In his opinion Casa Blanca is good since within walking distance to town etc. Ron

We are in Campestre as I type. They have 20 something new sites. Traffic noise a bit of a problem. Havent heard a hallelujah since we got here.
All in all a nice place to pull in.
Having a cappuccino and using their wifi.
I was wondering about Casa Blanca. May check that out for tonight.
I also loved that park near Engleburt's.

All other parks in La Paz are closed. Camp Maranatha is the only game in town. They just opened another addition 24 full hookup sites to accommodate
the extra travelers.
Although it is outside of town, the local bus stops directly in front of the coffee shop on the corner, and the ride to town is only 8 pesos. It comes
by every 30 minutes. It's the El Centenerio bus, which makes it easy to identify, so you don't get on the wrong bus.
