Whatever "happened" to Eddy technically did not occur in Mexico. Nomad is a US- based business, with servers located NOB. I don't see any jurisdiction.

Maybe in San Francisco. Down here, truth is for sale. Opinions are for sale. And, so are judgements.
Everything here is for sale to the highest bidder.

You're having trouble exorcising your US legal training. Reality changes at the border.

Yes, in San Francisco and the rest of the United States, and probably the WRITTEN LAW is the same in Mexico. What people DO with written laws, in Mexico, may be a different story; however, I thought it might be helpful for you to know, initially, how things SHOULD work there, at least.

I suppose that, IF Eddy could prove his business in Mexico was harmed as a proximate cause of defamatory remarks, jurisdiction might be established.

It's a long way from La Paz to Punta Banda, Russ.

And btw, I am not convinced that Eddy and the lawyer are the same. Just a smell test thing.

Thanks a lot. All of us down here really want to know how things
SHOULD work according to your perfect model........but they don't.

You're starting to irritate me with your perfect image of Mexico derived from your perfect image of life in the US.
You don't seem able to accept that you do not understand the structure here. You assume, arrogantly, that your model fits all.
It really doesn't.
Apply all of your preconceptions of the world from your narrow minded, hard earned expertise. Assume the whole world is guided by your knowledge since you assume that because you have a law degree, everything else in this world will be amenable to your "logical" way of thinking.

Yeah....do that.

You have arrived a a lot of conclusions about me with absolutely no basis for them. You are PROJECTING things onto me that come from your own mind, and I suggest you step back and take a look at that (maybe in the morning).

I don't appreciate it at all when people who don't know me from scratch try to tell me how I think, what I think, or what my "preconceptions about the world" are. You REALLY think you know these things about me?

Why is it that you go so far out of your way to alienate people, even when they are attempting (helpfully or not) to help you?

Well, I went down and visited Eddy at his place about 6 years ago. The road was a mess, he had just gone through a hurricane and his aluminum boat was way up in a tree about 100 feet off of the ground. Defamation is a real serious crime in Mexico and you need to be careful when you say anything negative about anyone who is a national. We obviously did not stay at Eddies place because it had a pretty negative feel about it and we drove back down the wonderful road that brought us there and went somewhere else. He was having some kind of problem with his wife and ownership at that point and we tired of the stories very quickly. We were searching for a place to call home and they had done a good job of evicting us from Los Muertos but this was a far shot from "paradise".
Anyway, we mentioned to someone in Los Barilles that we had been to Eddies place and he was working on some legal situation around the separation, which caused a general laughing spell. So just tread lightly, cause who knows.

"Proof ... Proof, I don't need no stinking proof. Look what I paid to have the paper print. That's proof enough." That's pretty much what caused a lot of problem for a friend of mine. Also the guy that brought defamation of character charges against my friend had "witnesses" to the "facts". How do you prove you didn't say something?

It all helps... in my opinion ... but, then we all know how I think.. we have already been over that...
