My guess is El Gato 27 49.23748', -112 52.07178'
But hard to know for sure all we found was a corral
Yes, the hardest place in the arroyo was around 2 miles east of El Gato where we had to strap one vehicle out of the sand . Such it was in 2009.
The area last week from another trip in the same arroyo where the big S turns are seen on GE was a slow place, but no stopping was noted. Closer to
Trinidad.

No fresh Spot signal from TW since 11:21.

That is a very long time to get from Camp on the coast even with the side trip south. All day to get 10 or 11 miles along the trail to El Gato.
I hope they have no mechanical issues.

Slow day
Hi Paul - the latest spot from Tom was "all ok" at El Gato - they've made it through Trinidad Wash. Tom drove north from Highway 1 almost to El Gato
earlier this year (I believe) and related to me that the tough stuff is north of that. I'd expect them to make San Ignacio this evening - 7:00 p.m.
maybe? Of course the very slow driving has taken a toll on their gas tanks.....Tom had two 5 gallon cans and I'm not sure about Roy. Actually since
Roy was having trouble early in the trip, we are assuming they are still together and that Roy did not return to San Diego at some point. Nonetheless,
as you know, the toughest is behind them terrain wise.
Edited to correct my errorneous guess. The last spot at about 7:00 p.m. still has them 20 miles north of Highway 1 - stopped for the night? dinner
maybe? Guess we'll find out later.

Wow wow wow we made it. Tough going in many areas. Roy did not have any issues with the Land Rover except getting stuck 3 or 4 times and of course the
Tacoma was there to help.
We went to Rancho San Miguel and the building is standing but lots of stuff scattered around. There was a bicycle rider camped there, his tent was up,
but we didn't see him just his tracks.
We made the mistake Rich did and followed his tracks and had to turn around. Many washout on the small arroys. It was sometimes hard to follow the
tracks.
I had downloaded Rich's GPS into my NUVI-52 thinking it would show the trail. Well it didn't I have to do something else to make it work. Garmin
basecamp says it is loaded, who knows. I have E32 loaded and it shows the old road and we used it as a reference. We lost sight of the trail many
times. The hardest was from the SOC at Trinidad to El Gato. Lots of rocks and hard to see tracks so we had to walk ahead to find them. One of the
hardest sections was north of Los Corrales where we had to go down onto the beach rocks and then back up over. I had two 5 gallon cans of extra gas
and we filled up in LA Bay. When we got to San Ignacio I had about 1/8 of a tank left. Roy said his Land Rover took 90+ liters to fill.
The days were warm and clear and the nights were cold except for the last night camping it was cool. From El Gato south The road was in good shape.
Other than not knowing where we were sometimes the NWT was fun and certainly interesting. If I had more gas I would liked to explore the R San Miguel
area.

Around 9mpg for Roy. Not to bad Probably even better with real miles traveled.
Tom, the gps issue is not because of Rich's track. It is a good track and overlays very closely with more recent tracks I have.
The guy that drove the track the week before you was traveling a very old land cruiser. Surprised you did not see his tracks? He did it with two
fivers as backup. Solo drive and never got stuck.

I just read my U2U's this morning and Tom said to expect them in Bahia Asuncion this afternoon....and is expecting to take me up on my most excellent
Margarita offer made weeks ago....Woody can attest to their taste and effectiveness....

and stories we heard!!!!! Pretty cool to hear a trip report first hand from a couple of non wimps! But my favorite moment was seeing with my own eyes
Roy scratch a fly's butt....truly a first for me and he did it a few times and I was even able to take a picture of it...really...the fly was
alive...Roy is a fly whisperer ....er scratcher.
and Ged was good for his word on the margs too...great to see you both again after all these years!

At 11:20am, today (Thursday, Dec. 15) TW sent a Spot signal from just north of San Felipe on Hwy. 5. Looks like they are heading home.
This is the first Spot signal I got since they arrived at San Ignacio after the No Wimps Run.
Looking forward to the photos and details!

Sounds like they had a great trip. Looks like we might be doing this trail in Jan. on our bikes.
