One way to avoid paying CA DMV fees is, if you moved to CA from out of state, you just keep your out of state plates for as long as possible. Probably
saves people money on insurance too.

I've spent much time in the last 20+ years at the DMV registering vehicles, and the list of fees has gotten ridiculous. It's not really about whether
I can afford to pay it, but if I should eally have to pay it.
Why some people who do not even live in CA have such a strong opinion is beyond me. Envy I guess. Despite it's faults, there is a reason so many
people move here, it is a beautiful state, albeit poorly run.

It's actually the post office's fault, as well as the DMV.
Don't worry, you'll get a notice soon that you will need to pay another fee to renew your non-op "registration", like they did recently for Permanent
Trailer Registration. FYI, last I paid it, non-op is $19, but I think that went up too... |
If you renew on time it can be done online, don't blame the post office.
I mailed renewals in for 30 years. Never lost one. You lost 2???

Yep. raised in Riverside and Coachella Valley before you were born. Graduate from the University of California. Many years lives in Weimar
California. Moved to Arizona because of a work transfer and did not whine about it. Live in Baja Sur because I worked hard enough and saved enough
to do that. Now I enjoy life instead of whine about life.

Born and raised in California - lived in Nevada for many years. Back in California. But not gonna retire here. Taxes way to high in this state.
Will probably go back to Nevada or another state where my guns are legal and I am not taxed an extra 20% just in income and property taxes. Plus all
the land here is fenced in. I miss the wide open BLM land.

Nevada is a chithole, ruined by gambling. The schools suck, and higher education system is pretty mediocre. Good luck using those blm lands long
term, the GOP wants to sell them, so it will all be fenced soon. The remaining blm lands will be fenced off for strip mining.
If you want to build your life around guns (seems like a silly goal to me), you can still own a gun in California within reason. But if you want to
make your life all about killing machines, please do go to Nevada, we prefer to be about life in California, and don't see a point in having neighbors
that focus on guns at the expense of civil society. So, yes, please leave and take your guns with you! If you come to your senses and reprioritize
your life, you will be welcome back in California.
P.s. When you leave, could you take DK with you?

The problem that we have economically, and the problem that Europe has economically is due to "supply side economics". Supply side economics is what
has caused universal economic hardship for the bottom 98% all over the western world. Be advised that "supply side economics" is a right wing,
conservative, Republican creation...not an east coast liberal thing. It started with Ronald Reagan and continues to this day. It is the complete and
entire reason for our childrens inability to do as well economically as we retired guys have done. It is completely a right wing thing. Completely.
Supply side economics stands for lower income tax rates for the top earners, a reduction or elimination of estate taxes, reduction and/or elimination
of unions and collective bargaining, removal of the minimum wage, less regulation so that business can save money by not spending money on regulation
compliance where the regulations expand competition and protect the worker and the consumers from harm and that protect consumers from financial harm
and protect the planet from harm, increased spending on defense and reduction in entitlements and Medicare and Social Security, plus more
privatization of government functions. It was right wing supply side economics of insufficient regulation and application that was the entire and
complete cause of the near collapse in 2008 of the financial structure and the resultant past 30 years of economic financial hardship of the bottom
98% and the accompanying destructive inequitable lopsided disparity of wealth and income that our country currently has.
Supply side economics is a right wing agenda ushered in by the Presidency of Ronal Reagan, and, our economy continues to reflect the right wing agenda
to this day.
Blaming undocumented immigrants and big government is not the problem. You are looking at the trees and ignoring the much larger forest, not to
mention your ignoring the entire discipline of macroeconomics...as usual. The assessment of national and global economic condition and its causes is a
"macroeconomic" exercise. Please try to remember that.
Donald Trump will be the President because he won the electoral college vote by falsely representing that he is for the working man but all of his
appointments scream supply side economics in spades. (What will be the outcome of Trumps Presidency will be less regulation, lower taxes for the
top earners, less collective bargaining, reduction or elimination of the estate tax, fewer financial consumer protections, more spending on defense
and reductions to Medicare, Social Security, and other safety nets, all of which will lead to more economic disparity into the long term. That means
things will not be good for our kids in the long term.
That is and has always been the long term result of supply side economics which is "a right wing thing"...not an east coast liberal thing.
Also, there will be no draining of the swamp in DC as Trump is filling the swamp with his own critters.
BTW, California has the 6th largest economy in the world.

This was about fees, CA DMV fees in particular, which you do not even pay. It is usually prudent to question why fees increase, and what they are for.
You love California, but can't have the respect to spell it right?

You should write a book on life philosophy with all your insightful wisdom. Many people probably don't know life is really that simple.
Or, just keep whining on the internet about other people discussing their opinions on how they may feel they are being forced to pay fees and taxes
