road conditions south of Santo Tomas

I have looked all over the map for any road conditions going up the mountain from Santa Tomas south. Any reports would be gratefully appreciated. :light:

you got it bajatrailrider. I don't understand why there are no reports of this. I heard there is a much as a 4 hour delay, which means I would prefer to go to San Felipe route to go north, however, they are working on the road there around the Gonzaga bay area fixing vados. Looks slow either way.

I'm confused. Is the road work north or south of Santo Tomas?

There is no 4 hour delay 30min as big rocks land on highway from work above. They then let North bound go then south bound are let go. Not a big deal If you have AC. Here is a mind blower the same company doing massive project. Went to San Vicente just did repave Highway 1 only though San Vicente from end to end. Who got paid on that deal HAAAA

The a and s button plus my fat fingers... lol.

Check your Facebook photo at Puntaa Abreojos (your spelling). Typos happen!

So, it sounds like the road widening up the mountain climb south of Santo Tomás has finally begun? First mention of this I read, here.

We went through there 2 weeks ago, Only a 10 min. wait both ways.
This is a big job, I can see some long delays in the future.
can't believe how far they got the dozers and excavators up the ridge.
Real cowboys working there!

Road construction south of Ensenada?

I have searched for the above in Road Conditions & Trip Reports.
I thought I read about delays because of road work south of Ensenada recently. Anyone encounter delays in the area?

Tuesday heading north 30 mins. They are moving a butt-ton of dirt from the hillside and pushing it off the cliff! I have a foto but the hosting here wont accept it.

Edit: Lame if on mobile.

I was just on that part of the road this past Saturday 11/Aug. 2018.

They delay the traffic for work on the mountainside lane. Quite a bit of the mountainside is being taken down for road widening and to straighten out the curves.

This thread is confusing. It sounds like there are two construction projects, one south of Ensenada and north of Santo Tomas and another south of Santo Tomas on the long uphill (going south) grade.

Is that right?

This was just posted this morning on the Vagabundos FB page:

ROAD REPORT Hello all, Just returned from San Quintin. On the way down, south of Ensenada Just passed the first military inspection point there must have been a landslide. About 1 mile or so past the military check point there is a giant scene of construction on the hills area. About 1 to 2 miles long. Big delays of 1 hour or more on this road. Going southbound past the major construction is all new paved highway. The newest is just north of San Quintin just north of Drisdol’s berry’s. It continues south until the turnoff for Jardines.

I didn't see any reply saying construction was north of Santo Tomás. That road has already been widened.

Now, BajaMama has a new landslide report that seems to be close to the military checkpoint, which is north of Santo Tomás!

Keep the reports coming in amigos! Please include kilometer markers for precision if you can mark them down.

Thanks! With so much local farm traffic, it would be great if Camalu to San Quintín/Jardines was all 4 lanes.
