I accept that the coyote story is not relevant and the guy died of dehydration. The rest of the story has a lot of false info and shows the writer has no concept of the area.
I do not believe there is anything called a field. Not being a spanish speaker I have no concept where that word came from. Can anyone explain?

'Field' could also be the word for "region", as in Matomi region (or area)? A Google translate, I suspect?

Km. 60 is where Arroyo Matomi crosses Hwy. 5. The ranch named Matomi is just over 30 miles west. The ejido called Matomi incudes the Puertecitos area on the coast.
