Young kids work the harvests of Baja California

Baja Bernie - 3-9-2007 at 05:03 PM

Don't even use the same finger for the 'a' and the 'e' so I have not excuse.

Skeet/Loreto - 3-9-2007 at 05:05 PM

Dennis: Let me try to explain in my ole Cowboy way.

Your words indicate a closed Mind!

It seems to be saying"This is the cause of the Problem , This is to blame and anyone who does not see it my way is Wrong!

Could you even imagine that someone who is completely opposite to your Ideas could might actually have a Valid Point????

Leave the Kids alone. Let them Work, Learn, make mistakes, have success with out you telling them your Opinion that the Stores are ripping them off.

You are beginning to sound like Pat Robertson and Jerry Farwell.

Skeet

DENNIS - 3-9-2007 at 05:08 PM

Skeet ----

Yeah........... I see your point with an open mind and completely understand it. I even appreciate that you would take the time to convey it.

I just don't agree with you.

MrsFDT - 3-9-2007 at 05:20 PM

:wow:Wow, Garsh.... Shucks:dudette: Thank you. Ill have some splainin to do when ftd reads that.....

I think it's wonderful to see the flow of passion and "intelligent" articulate conversation. After all what would life be if we all harbored the same opinions?

We dont,...... therefore there is occational clash. Dont you think clash has such a lovely color? So red, and passionate."dont get any on me, though" Clash can sometimes cause side affects and may occationally stain.

It doesnt really matter who thinks what or if we agree or not. It just is...... from whomevers' perspective. Sometimes we convince ,somtimes we are convinced and sometimes there is red.. Man, I love that color... matches my insides.

DENNIS - 3-9-2007 at 05:27 PM

What are you talking about?

She is responding to what Bernie had to say about her, a few posts up.

Using the 'quote' feature (like I did here) will help make clear which Nomad one is responding to in a thread like this.

DENNIS - 3-9-2007 at 05:35 PM

How do you use that feature? Jeezo, there's no end to how I could annoy people if I could mix and match their comments like Lencho does.

Tell me how David, please.

Yeah! David

Baja Bernie - 3-9-2007 at 05:42 PM

Step by step on the 'quote' thing...........sometimes I get it correct but mostly it only confuses when I try to employ it.......Do you suppose I should try and tip it????:biggrin::biggrin:

"Quote" feature-------????

Barry A. - 3-9-2007 at 05:43 PM

I have never learned how to do that either, or at least I have not learned how to "edit" somebody's quote and then repost it in my response.

big Mystery!!!!

The exchange of ideas has progressed in a basically positive track even though it did not really follow my beginning thread. I learned a long time ago that thinking with ‘feelings’ can be a very positive thing…………this, along with so many other ‘feeling’ things was taught to me by my Mexican friends. I am fairly sure that the majority of you have been exposed to the same approach from your years in Baja. That is what I have attempted to do here.

Guess with your last post I will have to delete this comment by me.

See it just do not work, the quote thing, for me.......

DENNIS - 3-9-2007 at 06:42 PM

Aw c'mon Bernie ---

If you spent as much effort on being retired as you do being literal, you would have a lot more fun.

Osprey - 3-9-2007 at 07:07 PM

Aw c'mon Dennis---

If you spent as much time and effort being constructive as you do being mean spirited and argumentive you would have a lot more fun.

Because you said 'please'...

When you are reading a post or reply, just above the box area the text is in are some 'buttons' on the top of the box is 'edit', 'quote', and 'report'.

Press 'Quote'! (Edit allows you to change or delete anything YOU posted, and Report is to send a message to the moderators that something should be looked at or removed).

David----yeah, but-------

Barry A. - 3-9-2007 at 07:24 PM

----when you hit "quote" it quotes EVERYTHING. I see people quoting just portions of what previous posters "post". How do they do that????:?:

DENNIS - 3-9-2007 at 07:25 PM

Thanks David -----

Still dont get it but I'll work on it.

David K - 3-9-2007 at 07:38 PM

Dennis... you are reading this right now... look just above and slightly to the right of these words you are reading... See the word 'quote' in a darkend button, just above where you are reading this?

When you want to quote any post in a thread, just push that button.

Barry, you can take your mouse and remove anything from the quoted post, which is in a box above where you type your responce.

This easy Bernie... The quoted part (in the box) is at the top of where you add your comments... Just start adding your comments below the quoted text... the words between
Quote:
and
here let me add a spaces so it doesn't make a quote box: [ quote ] and [ quote/ ]

Now, if I could figure out the foto thing. I suppose I should buy a digital camera for starters. Looking at a Leica D-Lux.

DENNIS - 3-10-2007 at 02:57 PM

Or maybe the V-Lux if I want to build up some credit card debt.

Baja Bernie - 3-10-2007 at 07:10 PM

That was disgusting the first time it was posted............Why post it again?

[Edited on 3-11-2007 by Baja Bernie]

Natalie Ann - 3-10-2007 at 09:59 PM

On two recent threads, suggestive posts about girls 8 years old or younger... smacks of pedophelia. Perhaps the poster needs a time out.

Baja Bernie - 3-11-2007 at 09:10 AM

Quote:
For the very reason you state. People should have to live with what they post here, and it's all too easy to post something, later delete it and act as if it never happened. Sometimes quoting an objectionable post keeps folks honest... though in this case it looks like the mods decided to try to turn back history and have deleted both posts. I personally disagree with such moves, as it reduces the ability of the community to police itself , by hiding the dark side of folks who step over the line... Though we don't seem to do a very good job of self-policing, so perhaps censorship IS occasionally necessary in this place. Yuck. :(

--Larry

Larry,
I agree with all of your above statements. Thanks

Doubt that I would get into the area of throwing the Pedophile word around. Pretty heavy based on a few stupid words.

Heavy, yes-- seems to be a witch hunt in the States lately. I suspect due to the priest component. Or maybe that's a result rather than cause.

As to those stupid words, much as I stretch, I can't figure it; every reason I can come up with for writing something like that, feels weird. Shrug...

--Larry

"Witch Hunt" perhaps, but ANY CRIME against "kids" is unacceptable and should result in serious jail time, in my opinion ON THE FIRST OFFENSE!!!!!!

David K - 3-11-2007 at 10:29 AM

Sometimes things are posted in the 'heat of the moment', since moderators can't be here 24/7 to watch us (nor should be), people should erase heated or stupid comments.

This should be a happy place and the sooner a negative comment about somebody is removed, the better.... Why keep the hate?

Now, let's talk about BAJA!!!

Yeah, we know how effective prison is as a long-term solution.

How about sending them to Iraq, segregated into a special division which receives intensive psycological councilling?

Lecho----Leave them in jail-----I am willing to------it is a price we have to pay to keep them "off the street"-----I don't believe they can be cured.

I agree and I don't believe ( I know) they cannot be cured.......BUT................I still stand by my quote below

"Doubt that I would get into the area of throwing the Pedophile word around. Pretty heavy based on a few stupid words."
Bernie

Barry A. - 3-11-2007 at 12:41 PM

Bernie------after revisiting this, you are right------I must admit that I too, like Lecho, was puzzled by the comments------but to make that "leap" to petophile???? That probably is a bit much.

I will back away, and let this "thread" get back on track.

The End.

Nena

Barry A. - 3-11-2007 at 12:49 PM

The "emotion" that Nena displays here I agree with. But to make that enormous "leap" to pedophile from a few words, no matter how bazaar, seems to me to be a bit much.

We really have no idea-----------------do we?

therefore, seems inappropriate, but we all sure know where some of us stand on this issue, don't we? :light:

Bajafun777 - 3-11-2007 at 02:04 PM

Look Mexico has a ways to go on getting all kids into a school setting and keeping them there. We have the same problem about kids not going to school but just not on such a big scale. We keep making more laws and services to families to keep them in school. Mexico tries to do this with DIF which is similar to our Department of Social Services here in California. Mexico kids that miss school do so out of the necessity to eat remember the need to ge back to the basics. Unfortunately, most of these parents are also uneducated and trying to make the basics happen to feed the entire family. The U.S. got out of that old deal of haviing a lot of kids to work the farm or streets do whatever job was there to bring in the money. Baja will keep getting more kids educated as their economy gets better and things are happening in Baja. I really like what David K said focus on why we all want to be down in Mexico every chance we get. Kids are Kids no matter what side of the border they are and it takes an economy that lets their parents not be forced to use the kids to feed the kids. Later----Bajafun777

Baja Bernie - 3-12-2007 at 08:32 AM

I just went back and reviewed this post (by me) that started out with a concern with an eight year old child being killed by a farm tractor.

Almost immediately it changed directions and became a rant about tips and grocery stores in Baja.

From there it made a couple of figure eights, veered one-eighty (for a second) back to concern for kids laboring on a farm, then it made several left turns, and a right or two. Then it really hit a low spot with a disgusting suggestion—thankfully it was not well received at all. Then a word, about the hottest one in the English language (at this point in time), was tossed into the mix.

Anyway, I believe that overall it turned out to be a most interesting post and I think that it has set a ‘record’ for the most deviations off topic.

For my money a prize should be presented to Mrs. fdt for her ability to hit several nails directly on the head with one slam of the hammer.

Oh! Yes, the Constitution does say that you may not hire kids under 14 and that I believe it why they only receive tips.

I still feel strongly that Mexican law should be utilized to put those folks in prison who hire kids under 14 to work, particularly in such dangerous areas such as farming—never heard of a kid bagging groceries kicking the bucket.

I also 'know' that people who sexually abuse children should be done away with because they are beyond curing or caring!!!! But only after they are found guilty in a court of law.

My diez pesos!

Wink and nod

I would encourage my son to bag groceries for tips only and thank the store chain for allowing me the opportunity to help train and shape my son in a real life situation, So he can be better prepared for what lies ahead in his life.
