Typical, you can usualy tell bi the dirt on a car if it's from San Quintin.

I still remember in October 2003 heading South through San Diego on our way back to Ensenada from Idaho. It felt like the end of the world as fire seemed to be coming in from all sides except the Pacific. From what we're seeing in the news, this seems even worse this year.

Thanks for the updates on the area in Ensenada and around. My heart goes out to the people in El Zorillo. They, for the most part, are in a difficult area as far as fighting the fire and, again, with such limited resources. We have seen the Army get involved in that area (Ensenada) in the past and were always surprised that fires just didn't seem to reach the magnitude they do in the SD area. Have not figured out why but will continue to watch and pray. Be careful.

Because the Mexicans chopped down all the trees and used them for firewood long ago.

National guard troops now being deployed to protect property...

Looters arrested in Ramona... was two 18 yo punks steeling beer... Hope that it doesn't get any worse than that.

Looters

bajaguy - 10-23-2007 at 01:15 PM

Do you have a url? I'm not seeing how to do that on Google Maps (if that's what you're using).

Never mind -- I pulled it up on Google Earth. Thanks.

Hello, I'm new to posting on the site (been a long time reader).
Does anyone have any information about where these fires are in relation to highway 1 and are there are any closures of highway 1?
I am supposed to head south (to San Quintin) on Thursday morning and any info would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks!
Erik

I'd like that link also Fernando

Thanks

DanO - 10-23-2007 at 05:23 PM

Lou, go to http://activefiremaps.fs.fed.us. The link is at the bottom of the page, where it says "View the latest MODIS fire detection data and incident information in Google Earth. Click here for access." You'll get a Google Earth file (current as of 4 pm PDT today) that you can save and open in Google Earth. You'll need to go back to the firemaps link for updates.
