Great, keep us posted on it if anything should transpire!

I have posted this on the Consulate thread also. This is from Marek today.

Hi Rod and Barb,

We’re home and safe. Thank you for all you’re help in getting us out. Don’t know what we would have done without you. I think since we escalated this up a bit the night before we left, Tijuana put some pressure on. Roberto at USAIR was very understanding and got us on that Airplane! Read your link and you are right to the point. Senator’s office called on the way to Cabo and offered their assistance. We are doing the ID theft and bank mess cleanup today but will try to call later…..

Love,

Marek & Lynn and kids

"fluky" - happening by or depending on chance; being unsteady or uncertain.

The hijacking incident certainly was fluky.

Just a couple of notes, The military presence will make others think twice about stealing airplanes, in Mulege. The teenages with guns make me think twice about sudden movements. ;D

It is not that they are much of a deturant in reality, but the fact that they were not there when this occurred made this family an easy target. They will go somewhere that no-one is watching (east cape etc).

Take off over gross weight from either end, (south is preffered) and you would be an easy target for the soldiers.

I would normally be of the mind to keep soldiers off of the airstrip but, in this case and environment it is a ness. evil.
Sorry Mike.

And someone was asking if the plane could have been tracked on radar. The nearest radar is hundreds of miles away and only accurate at very high altitudes.

Best wishes to the family, I am glad this turned out to be just a story they can tell for years.
