Oct 1974.
A new Honda CB 750, a AAA map, a new highway and an open curious mind. All served me well.

Why can't we have threads like this anymore. Every single post for 5 plus pages 100% on topic.

1992 on a fishing trip in early November for me, we ended up in Punta Chivato camping on the beach for 10 days. Worst fishing in 25 years in the area but fun non the less. Fast forward to late October 2012 and returned for the first time since '92 to prerun for the Baja 1000. Made over 40 trips back before I moved here August 2019. I still kick myself in the a$$ daily for not returning for 20 years since my first trip.

We need more stories from this one! My first street bike was a 1974 CB750 when I was 14, Baja wasn't on my radar yet.

Yeah, we went out to San Carlos when we visited Guaymas in '66. Nothing much there except some pangas pulled up on the beach. We went back on our 40th, reliving our honeymoon trip. Didn't like it. It was like Bakersfield by the Sea and no offense to my Bakersfield friends. Baja is better.

If you think this Board has some squabbles, you should check out some of the San Carlos Boards....right Hook?

This might be the worst take in the history of bad takes on this board.

You went down 1 time and went to the wrong places, did the wrong things and now you think you are an expert on the town?

San Carlos is right up there with Loreto in greatness. And the islands, beaches, and several dozen coves are incredible. I'm very sorry you missed it all, but don't be a tourist and write a mis-informed review.

I had a house and boat there in 2008 and guarantee you if I took you out on the ocean and to the good places you'd being singing San Carlos' praises.

We just had one very similar to it a couple weeks back.

Start some Baja threads would be my advice.

The first time I remember being in Baja was a family trip to TJ probably 1965 or so (I was 5 or 6). We got a flat tire in a neighborhood and some people came to help fix it. They had a little girl about my age with them and I gave her my balloon. She ran into the house and grabbed something for me (I can't remember what it was). I learned a lot about Mexican culture that day!

My first trip was in ~ 1991. A friend's parents had an unfinished beach house in Puerto Penasco. I lived in CO, and he was in Tucson. I would drive down and pick him up and we would meet some girls from ASU and head down for a week. Lots of fun fishing and hanging out on the beach. He knew a spot to grab lobsters within snorkel range of their place.

Many occasional trips through the years after kept the interest up. But then I got a professional career, and I had another friend that had a place in Hawaii - That sidetracked us for a few years. But then in 2014 we made a trip to East cape. Been going back nearly every year since. Just got a place in Todos and working on a plan to spend at least the winter months there, maybe more if the plan works out. Anyone need a Solar consultant with a Victron dealership?
