This got me curious, so I looked up insulation a bit, and I found that they make insulation especially for noise control. I also see that it is sold
in 24" widths. http://www.owenscorning.com/worldwide/canada/products.asp?Pr...Bajagypsy - 2-20-2009 at 01:28 PM
That's cool, thanx Packodermshari - 2-20-2009 at 01:54 PM
problem is though is that all that oom pah pah party noise will be coming from INSIDE this shed! I was dreaming of the pithaya margaritas we will soon
be sipping from your patio....cant wait to take the "After" picture. I love the view....of the cantina at Playa Chato.Bajagypsy - 2-20-2009 at 03:34 PM
I was going to get the insulation for our neighbours!Paulina - 2-20-2009 at 05:58 PM
I would like to know the process for making cement stairs. What the forms look like and "step by step" directions.
P<*)))>{Diver - 2-20-2009 at 06:07 PM
Paulina,
They cut stringers similar to wood stairs and then cover the bottom side with plywood. They install the risers only - no treads.
You set the stairs and fill with concrete from the bottom up.
Working with a fairly dry mix, you trowel each step as you fill ....
Peel off the wood bottom, stringers and risers when all is cured.
There is typically rienforcing steel placed lengthwise over the plywood bottom and 2 bars in each tread, behind the riser.Bajagypsy - 2-24-2009 at 07:52 AM
Well the ants started on our patio yesterday, I sooooo can't wait to get down there.
Diver - 2-24-2009 at 08:13 AM
That is sooo cool !!
I can imagine the feelings when we start our "shed".
Gotta love those ants; and Shari !!
Is this side facing the water ?shari - 2-24-2009 at 08:24 AM
the building was built to block the wind so it sort of faces our place and the island...thus the ocean as well but it's nice on that patio with no
wind and has a great view of your place diver....I can just see us out there with our pithaya margaritas!! watching the sunset...ahhhhBajagypsy - 2-25-2009 at 06:09 AM
MORE, It is almost finished!!!!

I only have one problem with your shed, and it's that it's your shed instead of my shed. What's the lower level going to be? Living quarters or work
space?shari - 2-25-2009 at 07:46 AM
see Diverlandia in the last picture???? this pic is for you diver!2-tie-dye-4 - 2-25-2009 at 07:58 AM

The bottom is the shed, the top portion will be our living quarters till we get our house built then it will be our guest house.David K - 2-25-2009 at 11:22 AM
If it was Canada, the shed's bottom half would be under the snow!
ie. why do Canadians love Baja!bobw - 2-26-2009 at 09:28 AM

all night Musica parties, "Oompa! Oompa!"
Insulation is commonly sold in 16" and 24" widths.
For sound blockage, Roxul makes a sound/fire attenuation product (Safe N Sound) http://www.roxul.com/sw18169.asp that is very good. But it offers very little in thermal insulation.Diver - 2-26-2009 at 09:44 AM

Bajagypsy,
Where did you purchase your lumber? In Vizcaino? Do you know what size floor joists you used for your 2nd story - 2x12 or 2x10?
Thanks.....Bajagypsy - 4-11-2009 at 01:31 PM
We purchased the lumber in Vizcaino. The floor joists were 2 x 10. At least that is what Mr. Gypsy told me!Cypress - 4-11-2009 at 02:24 PM

Hate to tell you, but Tuto can be fickle. When Laurieboats was in town he remembered that she was lady with the Costco Turkey Dog Treats so he hung
out around our places---never looked back. So you had better be sure you have really GOOD treats for him
He is such a smart and very sweet dog. And he doesn't let our little Maggie monster intimidate him---

That's ok Diane, Todd just feeds Tuto human food straight from the fridge.
I'm hoping if we bring our cranky dog down Tuto will put her in place!Bajagypsy - 6-6-2009 at 09:10 PM
