ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh what a fun weekend and how inspiring .... Shari, you REALLY made it possible for the teams to make friends and I will be forever
grateful to you and Sirena and Adrian and Zoe and Jim and Laurie and the plant guy, Chris who saved the day for Argenis, our guy whose inner tube
blew. His dad came out today, last minute to watch him ... we really needed him to finish and make his dad proud !! and of course, thanks to Juan who
lets you disappear and help us out for hours and hours ....
we loved the beach house ... so much we want to come back...pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
we donated a beautiful young girl's bike to Chayo at the end of the races ... asuncion really needs help in getting new members and bikes and
parts.... the people in the leagues are complaining about coming to asuncion when there are so few riders ...... Chayo also needs a special tire for a
bike thats down - I will post a pic on facebook and perhaps sirena/shari can post it here ... and maybe a BajaNomader can find the tire - all I
remember is 22/700 ??? I just support everyone, I understand zilch about bikes !!
I have a suggestion. bike stores in the states are so kind and into donating to poor kids.. do any of you know some stores who might help out asuncion
and g negro ????? I have lucked out and have a wonderful store that is really being the BEST for us, but I promised Chayo and Homar that I wd find
them a connection. if anyone can give me a lead in san diego, I will follow up and make it happen !!!!
thanks again to all of you in asuncion - this is a weekend to remember forever

Go Blanca---we hope someone can find another connection---we had no luck with any of the stores in the south bay area where we are. The one store
that promised help never really came through--and we hit them all. Chris, the plant guy is going to work on some in his neck of the woods.
We did have a lot of help and support from our nephew with Giant who helped out a lot a few years ago and financial support from some donors from the
Baja Nomads and elsewhere, but the nephew started a family and things have changed. And there were others from the beginning who worked to obstruct
our efforts to support this activity for reasons we do not fully understand.
And risking once again at being told we are sending guilt trips, this is the first year that any of the ex-pat property owners in Bahia Asuncion have
shown an interest. We really are happy that Shari decided for the first time this year to get involved and brought a few of her followers along with
her. Whatever it takes for the sake of the children.
We know the tires Chayo is looking for and they are quite expensive. After our recent donations, we are rather tapped out right now and he spends a
lot of money out of his own pocket. So we do hope you can find some more donors. Just for information for others, we do get discounts from the
bike shop at REI when we buy directly from the shop and not just the store.
If there are bikes available, there will be riders. So Blanca, thank you and go for it---you and your efforts we will support. And kudos to Shari for
deciding this year to jump in and support this activity.
We are bringing another bike down---it is old but in great shape.
The teams have a real tradition of being friends and helpful to each other, and it sounds like you will continue with the long time tradition.
