dianaji - 5-16-2010 at 09:11 AM

if they have a north and south...of course dennis will have be attend both, since he started all this!

Bajafun777 - 5-16-2010 at 09:18 AM

Heck, I am retired now so I can also attend both, ahhh the price of being retired you have to make plans to go to FUN things,LOL. bajafun777

IMO there are ups and downs to everything in life and most of the time there is nothing to do but go with the flow and wait for things to turn round by themselves...or maybe that's just my wishful thinking:o:o
This board offers tons of great information, amazing pictures, entertaining stories, etc etc. And I think that as a resource it's one of the best!
As for those get togethers I LOVE the idea, we've been lucky enough to meet many nomads and it's so much fun to chill and just have some fun!

As Nan says...More party planning!!! Yikes :lol::lol:

Hopefully, the points will be taken and maybe all can meet for another get together somewhere in Baja like we use to at the Pyramid with Kari as host. I know some on tight budgets due to the times and hotel stays make attending tough. So, maybe even if a number of nomads were interested in a camping run now it might make for FUN event. I know Fernando,Ken,David K and Doug along with a few others could put together somewhere on a nice beach area for all to enjoy. Could be like a big pot luck BBQ fun time, I would be willing to bring enough hamburger patties for 80, hot dogs too along with the buns, so maybe everyone else would be interesed in doing something also.
I think if we had a couple of these every year more people would be able to put faces to names. Further, this would allow them to actually get to know some people they would really like once they talked to them. For those that have not actually met Bernie he is a wealth of stories and a really nice guy, David K and Fernando both have a lot of information to share and great people. Think about it, I know times are kind of tough so camping out in a large group is safe and actually FUN, along with really making it possible for better connections with those attending. Additionally, someone will definately have to bring the things to make smores and hot chocolate for sitting around campfire, LOL. bajafun777

This is a little better, but if you could break your posts down into even smaller paragraphs, possibly with a space break between them they would be easier to read.

I do want to read what you have to offer, but sometimes my brain and eyes rebel, and I blow it off. I suspect others may do the same, judging by their comments.

This is hopefully taken as constructive criticism. It should help you be a more effective communicator.:light:

toneart, constructive criticism is the best way of criticising, far more civil....

Thanks! And now I will shut up. I can get tiresome too on occasion. Ya think?:)

a newbie that would love to meet some Nomads

skipowell - 5-16-2010 at 11:26 AM

Spouse bought a house in Rosarito area a couple years back so he could run down from San Diego and surf. Intially I figured it would just be his get away and I would come down occasionally but I have slowly become attracted to the area. It is I, who often will say lets go to Mexico for the weekend. Spouse comes down midweek to surf and golf but I still work full time and will for another 15 years

Baja Nomad has added to my desire to come down. I love the restaurant reviews, nomads opinions and thoughts on baja life. What makes this forum place special is that most people keep a positive perspective on life in baja. No place is perfect but with everyone trying to help each other out it sure makes it better. I actually enjoy reading some of the bantering that goes on. Just be nice to me I cry easy!

I would love to meet some of the Baja Norte people. Although we do make is to Cabo at least once a year so would actually be open to both!

Hope this party idea comes to happen. I would be willing to help!

dianaji - 5-16-2010 at 11:45 AM

skipowell,

there are some very kind people on this forum...and of late, it's greatly improved.

welcome!!!

Bajafun777 - 5-16-2010 at 05:33 PM

Haven't seen any posts or other writings from fdt, Ken Cooke, David K, Dennis,Doug or Keri on possible meeting places for this hoping they take a look and offer some suggestions. Now I will even throw in some cases of beer, so that should sweeten the pot some, hmmmmmm LOL------------ bajafun777

noproblemo2 - 5-16-2010 at 05:51 PM

I'll nominate Posada Don Diego's, come on Irene time to chime in here... :light::light:

DENNIS - 5-16-2010 at 05:59 PM

I'm thinking. [I can say that when Goat and Gull are conspicuous by their absence]

Cypress - 5-16-2010 at 06:08 PM

There's no better source of information about anything and everything related to Baja.;D

i can come any days except saturdays. i'll bring salad!

Bajatripper - 5-17-2010 at 10:49 AM

Regarding the idea of a BN get together--although this may be too late for some to make plans and the location too difficult to reach for others,--David K has made plans for such an even to be held at Santa Maria Mission for May 29th. You can read all about it under Baja Off-Road topics.

Chapala-ex - 5-17-2010 at 04:05 PM

We are newbies and can't think of a better way to get to know Baja and its denizens than a get together, meet-n-greet, bbq, campout, whatever... Still too new to venture down to BCS but would love to meet somewhere closer to our home in Ensenada. Can help with cooking and throw in a Texas brisket.

Where? When?

bajalera - 5-17-2010 at 07:02 PM

Interesting thread, Dennis. The Off Topic forum, which used to be fun, has pretty much been taken over by a few Nomads whose posts are so predictable they're boring. That's why I seldom tune in any more.

I think OT is having a reunion. PJC and Beercan just reappeared the other day. Maybe Bill can host a fiesta.

Nomad BC Gathering?

bajadock - 5-17-2010 at 07:19 PM

Uhhh, I heard about some little Fiesta happening at 2PM on Saturday, June 12? Or the pre-party on June 11/post-party 7PM on Punta Banda June 12?

bajalera - 5-17-2010 at 07:22 PM

What a splendid idea. I'll bring my famed Lucretia Borgia meatloaf with Agaric mushroom sauce.

sally, been meaning to tell u...u are one of the "sweet" people...and much needed to keep this forum that way. one can get much more with honey than with vinegar.

it seems to have a different vibration at this time and i am enjoying it.
