Yep still on for Izaak, although I'm tempted to make it Izaak Adrian...we'll see...

noproblemo2 - 6-11-2010 at 04:32 PM

Well Izaak is going to be a VERY lucky little boy with you and Adrian for his parents..............

SiReNiTa - 6-11-2010 at 04:49 PM

We are both super excited and a bit nervous now that there is only 3 months to go!! Yikes!
And here we thought it would go super slow!

I'd better get busy making those booties and quilts!!!

Nan&D - 6-11-2010 at 06:39 PM

It's a Boy! Hi Sirena and Adrian, congrats on the newest news...just what your intuition was saying, what's up with that
It dates me to say that we used to have to wait until the baby popped out to know which was what. Although Shari is even older than me:lol::lol:
Knit like mad girl. soon there will be no time for that!

I love it...so many call me Isaak as they have a difficult time with Zac

SiReNiTa - 6-11-2010 at 08:21 PM

hehe yes the language thing sort of limited our choices...But so far we are both pretty happy with Izaak, we changed the spelling so it's a bit unique, and it still has the same meaning! Although in the ultrasound he was frowning I think...hmmmmm Oh well I'm sure as soon as he meets his awesome family and extended family and friends that frown will turn up side down!!

The countdown has officially started! I'll be heading off to Guerrero Negro the first week of september just in case baby Izaak decides he wants to start his exciting life just a little earlier!
Better safe than sorry, and although the doctor said that the hospital in Asuncion was prepared for births, we feel it would be better to play it safe and go to G.N. where they have surgeons on call and all of the equipment necessary in case of an emergency C-section (yikes:no: )

But the important thing is that doctor says that both the baby and I are in great shape, no worries so far.

Oooh and the fun fact of the week!
The baby is now starting to swallow a bit of amniotic fluid each day and his taste buds are rapidly developing, which means that anything I eat, he can taste in those first little gulps (which he does to practice digesting), so most likely he will develop a liking for foods I eat around this time...Goodbye chocolates and hello veggies (ugh:barf: )

bajafam - 6-11-2010 at 08:44 PM

How wonderful Mama!! And what a surprise that he will be here in September! I had better get a move on with your diaper collection!!

Any Nomads out there want to get Sirena something but not sure what? I would love any assistance possible to get her a great stash of cloth diapers to carry dear Izaak from birth to potty. I am hoping to purchase new and used items in excellent condition so that when Izaak is done, they can be passed on to another family in Asuncion. If anyone out there in Nomadlandia can give me a hand, please u2u me!!

SiReNiTa - 6-12-2010 at 08:11 AM

Aww thanks bajafam!
After Izaak is done wearing them we would love for another family to use them since the custom here is pretty much unkown.
And it's so much better for the babies!!

shari - 6-13-2010 at 06:51 PM

for those of you who know our family...here is a photo of cousin Briseida (Lupita & Chepes daughter)...she's having a girl and they are due at the same time!!!!

irenemm - 6-13-2010 at 07:02 PM

OH 2 babies are way better than 1.
Good Luck Girls.

SiReNiTa - 6-14-2010 at 10:16 AM

hehe I'm glad that we are each carrying one because 2 for 1 would be a little much for girls our size!!
Thankfully everything is going well for both of us and both babies are healthy!!

Tiomiguel - 6-14-2010 at 11:19 AM

Interesting due date. That is good for us, so Izzy will be there when we come in the first week of November. Very Cool, Uncle Jake and Aunt Jess will love that for sure. Gives us even more to do when down there.

Congrats to Breseda as well from Tia Juanita and Tio Miguel. Lots of babies around there then.
Love Tio and Tia.

SiReNiTa - 6-15-2010 at 08:50 AM

Oooh I can't wait to see you guys!
I'm also glad of the new due date since aside from making it easier for my mamma, it means I won't have to sped my birthday in the hospital as I thought I would:bounce::bounce::bounce:

We were finally able to add some cute clothes to the registry (we hadn't done that since we didn't know if it was boy or girl) and we're starting to stock up on baby stuff! Can't wait for the baby shower ( )

bajamedic - 6-15-2010 at 12:47 PM

Is there an address that I can use to send a small package down for Izaak, Sirena and Adrian. Either someone in the states that will be traveling down or a direct address. You can use my U2U or my email micpib1@gmail.com if you dont want to post it here. JH

Bajagypsy - 6-15-2010 at 02:54 PM

Congrats, boys are soooo much fun. I will have to convince Todd we need to go down at christmas again, so we can play with baby!

I so wish we were down there full time to share in your joy!

SiReNiTa - 6-16-2010 at 08:52 AM

@Gypsy: Or you could come for my Bday in october!! Baby Izaak will be a month old!!!

I sure hope you are right about boys being easier! Adrian is having second, third and even fourth thoughts about using cloth diapers so if Izaak is easy to change (keeping my fingers crossed) maybe Adrian will give me a bit mor than just the benefit of doubt!

KAT54 - 6-16-2010 at 03:22 PM

And do not forget my birthday present.

Honestly I think/know boys are easier! And since moms change most diapers, it should be your choice!

SiReNiTa - 6-16-2010 at 08:21 PM

Hehe my dearest Kat54, the gypsy family knows that the present would be to have them here celebrating with us, since they are as much a part of this family as all of the other Bahia Asuncion nomads :D:D

@Gypsy: Ooooh no, the changing amount will be the same, the only difference of duty will be that I'll wash em and he'll hang up all the laundry!!:lol::lol:

boe4fun - 6-17-2010 at 10:24 AM

Hey Gang, When Shelley was pregnant with our second child, I had a name picked out for the baby if it was a boy. Before the time of Confucius there was a Chinese philosopher named "Ling Ball" and I thought that "Ling Ball Boe" had a nice ring to it. That way, if the kid grew up and joined the military where they always go last name first, then first name, then middle name, he would be known as "Boe-Ling-Ball!"

SiReNiTa - 6-17-2010 at 01:15 PM

Oh my goodness!!!
I had to read that twice to get it!!:lol::lol::lol::lol:
Very nice!

bajafam - 6-17-2010 at 07:20 PM

Please don't let Adrian get too nervous about cloth diapers!! That would be a big bummer for us, considering I have already sarted you a nice stash! Tell him that I will give him a tutorial...trust me, it's no different then those nasty disposables when it comes to changing time...they're just a whole lot cuter, and more comfortable for baby! I will make sure there are some that are really easy just for him :)

shari - 6-17-2010 at 09:17 PM

No worries...we're just back from San Roque and had a little diaper talk...geezo...who'da thunk we'd be discussing cloth diapers on Nomad eh!!!
But when ya think about it, it's an important issue...especially in Baja and it only takes one to start the eco diaper ball rolling...I truly hope this will result in converting some more parents here to cloth diapers. I have just had it picking up dirty disposables everywhere...the dogs somehow get them and bring em home and you just see them everywhere...on beaches,, in arroyos etc....plus they are better for baby which is what is important....so a huge gracias to bajafam and all of you who care about reducing the scourge of disposable diapers.

noproblemo2 - 6-17-2010 at 09:29 PM

And in the long run a whole lot less expensive as well as being eco-friendly..... Thank You for hopefully starting a new trend here... Many orphanages would benefit from this as well........

Cloth diapers being more green might be a pile of crap:

SiReNiTa - 6-18-2010 at 09:16 AM

Ooh no worries Bajafam, when it comes to diapers it's my choice and Adrian will support any decision

I'd heard that before Bajaboy, but I still like the idea of cloth diapers, since both Adrian and I were cloth bum babies!

As my mom said, the neighborhood dogs like to get in to the trash bins and dig out the dirty diapers and leave em out on the street....calls for nasty smelling sidewalks and not to mention nasty smelling dogs!!!

Sounds like a dog problem....

Did you read this link? It sez...

"A 2000 German study concluded that boys who wear disposable diapers maintain a higher scrotal temperature than boys wearing cloth diapers, which may pose fertility issues later in life. "

Explain this to Adrian, Sirenita... I'm sure it will add to his support of your decision.;D:biggrin:

If disposables have less impact, then I suppose we should all abandon clothes washing and buy disposable clothing instead?!

But seriously, those studies are flawed in many ways, and are mostly funded by disposable diaper manufacturers. The way I see it is, would YOU like to sit in a plastic diaper filled with chemicals and your own waste for hours on end?

I read the study and found it pointed out the pros and cons of both disposable versus washable. I try and keep an open mind on subjects such as this.

As for your last comment, I suggest you change the diaper when it is dirty regardless of material.:?: That is cruel to leave a baby in a dirty diaper for hours on end.

Barry A. - 6-18-2010 at 12:03 PM

If you all had picked up as many disposable diapers as I have over the years, on Public Land & in the National Parks, you would opt for cloth ones, every time!!!

Yuck!!!!

I rest my case.

Barry

Well, I do change diapers frequently...often, it seems every 10 minutes! But some mamas don't. That's the um...beauty of disposables. You can't tell by feeling if the diaper is wet. So, I guess the bottom line is, would you rather your underwear be plastic, paper, wood pulp and chemicals (like disposables) or cotton, organic cotton, hemp, or bamboo velour (like cloth)? Hmmm.... I think I know the answer :)

I had a s****y experience when I misunderstood the label on a box of disposable diapers. It said: "Good for up to 20 pounds!"

SiReNiTa - 6-19-2010 at 08:40 AM

Oh my...diaper land discussion much???

Both have their pro's and con's, we will probably keep a small stash of disposables for when we are traveling or for other emergency situations where having a soiled cloth nappy isn't the best, but I like the cloth diapers for many other reasons aside from the ecological impact.

tiotomasbcs - 6-19-2010 at 11:50 AM

What did the Pericues do with their Baja babies?? I think I have tried to forget that part about how they recycled their own waste! UUGGHHHH! Disgusting!!!
