Seems to me that you would be in Gadsden or San Luis, Arizona.

Either would qualify as south of Mexico and California.

I graduated Arizona Western College and lived in Yuma for several years. We "shopped" for cantaloupe around Gadsden when the melons rolled off the trailer trains as they made the section corners down there. Most corners were littered with fresh free melons! Ah to be a starving student again.

while it is due South, Gadsden hardly qualifies as a "city". Somerton almost makes it but not quite. San Luis, AZ is the correct answer.

Los Barriles has been my primary home since 1989. The last 7 summers I head South to the mainland June to October more or less. I haven't been North of the boarder more than a total of 4 weeks since I moved back home to Baja. I may go North of the boarder for a visit someday, but I don't seem to be in any hurry to do so. :biggrin:

"Close by" is correct. San Luis is in Yuma County, about 25 miles Southwest of Yuma City. I often refer to here as "Yuma" because few people have ever heard of San Luis.

BTW, Yuma has now passed it's number one status. Unemployment is now at 30%.

Also, I may not live in Baja but I can see it from my backyard (also Sonora and California)

Skipjack...I was on top of Black Butte that day, and from 6000 feet (2000 above the webcam) the clouds were unimpressive in real time. From Redding it probably looked like a pretty cloudy day up here 5000 feet above Barry's elevation.

If you freeze the video at 11:40 am ~, it equals the still below!

(at 67 3/4, I made the summit at a rate of just under 1000 ft. per hour.):lol: The trail is in 95% shape.

so interesting to see where people hail from ... we live 100% here in La Bocana, BCS and currently only head north to san diego (Pt Loma/OB for me and Fallbrook for Les) when we hear Santa calling for us to visit familia ....

I'll bet every expat enclave in hilly terrain has a "Gringo Gulch." First one I ever saw was in Puerto Vallarta around 45 years ago.

Left Long Beach, CA in 2004 on a sailboat, ran around Mexican waters for 2 years, wasn't getting the assimilation I wanted......so....sold the boat and bought a house in Manzanillo, Colima, MX.

I sold my house in Anchorage in October of 2018, and moved back to Grass Valley California.

I am living in the house that my parents bought in 1947 when I was less than a year old. Lots of memories in this neighborhood!

My parents bought a house on the beach in Del Mar in 1957 when I popped out. They sold in in '65, after the tidal wave warnings posted on the beach (following the Alaskan Earthquake) freaked-out my mom! A big stucco thing now sits where our wood beach house was, on Sandy Lane.

I moved from Cochituate, MA (about 20 miles west of Boston) to Centerville, MA, on Cape Cod about 85 miles away. It's a dream of ours to buy a place in or near Todos Santos, BCS, but that hasn't happened yet. I'm 61 and planning to retire in the next 2 or 3 years.

3rd generation Californian. Grew up in the San Diego area for 30 years, and then fled to the desert SW. (humidity and me don't get along). Lived and retired in Redding, CA for the past 30 years and love it. I admit it is getting more and more silly to stay in CA, but I am too old to move and just mostly ignore the crazy CA Govt.. Besides, my wife has a thriving business here.
