Roger, I triple dog dare you to come back to Baja Nomad!

Arturo- I'm not sure Pompano has his house in Mulege ie Coyote. A few months ago he posted that he had sold the house and was going to be traveling. I believe he mentioned the Pacific side of Baja and out of the country. Than a few months later someone asked and he said he had sold his house but was back in Baja. Recently he uploaded a pic of his Coyote house so I assumed that the deal on the house fell thru and he was back in Coyote. Maybe someone knows if he still owns the house in Coyote. I, like most of the others, really enjoyed his posts and pictures. However, the Baja of today is not the Baja of the 70's when he first arrived. We lived in Baja Norte for a couple of years in the mid 90's and when we returned last year we couldn't believe the changes. The local ranch where we had watched happy Mexican children play in the dirt & pick apples and peaches had been replaced with a Sams Club and we got skunked surf fishing the beaches where in the 90's we could catch dinner in a few minutes. I can only imagine the changes that Pompano saw during his lengthy stay in Baja. For the retirees that relocated to Baja in the 70's hoping only to relax and only live for manana the changes must be difficult.

Just let it go for now. Roger will be back in time. He needs a break right now for whatever reason. We will all miss him, but I respect his wishes for a departure from the Nomad board right now.

Everyone is a "newbee" at one time or another unless you were born in Mexico. To label some as "newbees" because they have not been here as long as others is just uncalled for. Roger, I was at the jungle when the "Incident" happen. You were totally in the wrong and should have just done the right thing and apologized to those of us that you cussed at and flipped off as you tore out of there at a very unsafe speed. Incidentally, where children often play. You endangered yourself driving in the condition you were in and others that happened to be on highway with you. To those who seem to idolize your behavior, I am appalled. Just apologize and hopefully not display that kind of behavior again. Newbee or not, we are all here because we love Baja!!!!

'reneske'... I do not know who you are, because unlike me, you do not show yourself to the public.

I am taking this opportunity to respond to what you said..and to set the record straight...about me giving an apology to the people at the Jungla.

Reading your request just now has somewhat surprised me.

You see, I did just that the very next day. Offer my apology...on Tuesday. I felt I owed that to all who were present. Inbdeed, I was in the wrong by even entering the place, as I was told later it was a private birthday party I had crashed. I had no idea, as it is a public bar. Plus I did not know most of the new strangers who were at the bar, but I did know of TWO people who were there for sure.

So the very next day I sent a personal and group apology to both of them ( I am sure you know them, as they are daily patrons of this bar)...and asked them to extend 'an open apology to all present' from me… as I was not going to return to that particular bar.

Obviously, reneske, you did not receive this apology from either of these two people..and now I am wondering if any patrons at all received it?

If that is the case, I'm at a loss as why my apology was not mentioned by these persons. Indeed, it might be obvious if you read nomads.

Whatever happened...I did what I thought appropriate and I am through with this unsavory topic. I just felt you should know the truth..you can share this message with your amigos who may not read Nomads.....or keep it to yourself, it is up to your conscience.

Because you seem sincere, I am truly sorry that my actions last Monday were offensive to you. I assure you, you will not see me doing that again...nor will you ever see me in the bar again.

On a last note, I can also assure you that the ribald accounts of my drinking habits, as fun as it may be to present them as otherwise on the internet, are merely hilarious to me, my family and close friends. You see, most times, I am drink diet Coke with ice or a Pacifico. I see a lot of posts that are adamant about me being a 'total drunk.' Not true, but...I certainly was that day. A habitual drunk?....Sorry, Nope…but, like the kids say, "what-EVER!". I just don't care to waste any time on responding to small, mean people..they are merely …’weedy, weedy” ..as Carmen is saying.

I have many faults, not the least of which is…things tend to go a bit 'awry' when someone antagonizes me. Prod me, I punch back. Hope you can understand.

Now...Enough of this. Like you, I love Baja. Ordinarily, I would not go to this extreme to reply , but I felt you deserved an answer because I perceive you to be sincerely honest in your request.

Love Baja....that is the message we should be projecting on this forum, not this garbage. It’s Time to give this detour a Burial.

Peace, Love, and Fish Tacos.

Roger/Pompano
