Home....what a great place to be. Juanita must be so happy.
DianaT - 3-17-2012 at 12:00 PM
As far as germs go, home is far better than a hospital!! Hang in there and keep moving forward!
Sallysouth - 3-25-2012 at 06:14 PM
And moving forward she is! Tomorrow we will be going up to Cedar Sianai for a day of tests and meetings.A donor has been found and this will determine
if she is ready to do the bone marrow transplant. This should be another life changing day for her, we hope. I will post in the next few days as to the
outcome. As always, thank you Nomads, for your support. Abrazos, Sally

Sally. What good news! I hope and pray that this is the corner you've all been waiting to turn for several years. Thank you for letting us all walk
this path of miracles with you.

Exciting news Juanita and Sally!!
Sallysouth - 3-26-2012 at 06:57 PM
We just got back from Cedar Sanai after a really good day! She is ready for her transplant and they have 3 perfect matches for her, one being a "11
out of 12"!!! I think this is the one from Germany. We should know as soon as tomorrow. It was a VERY good day!!!
David K - 3-26-2012 at 06:58 PM
Wonderful news Sally!!!!

sd - 3-26-2012 at 07:09 PM

Tears in my eyes and heart overflowing with relief and happiness.
Oh, thank you!!
shari - 3-26-2012 at 08:48 PM
oh that is just fantastic...I would be doing a back flip right now feeling your happiness...if I was a few years younger! You all sooooooo deserve
this great break.
BajaGringo - 3-26-2012 at 08:49 PM
Fantastic News. We will continue to keep her in our prayers...
Paulina - 3-26-2012 at 08:53 PM
Great news!
DianaT - 3-26-2012 at 09:12 PM
Eleven out of twelve! Wow----just such wonderful news
Sallysouth - 3-27-2012 at 01:01 PM
Thanks you guys! She will be in isolation for 28 days after the transplant, and will not be allowed to have her girls there. Its gonna be real hard on
her. After learning what i have about the transplant operation, I know it is a very dangerous thing as she will have NO immune system after.Even when
they send her home it will be a neutropenic environment for 100 days!!She is not out of the woods by any means but this will save her life.I will keep
you all posted.Abrazos, Sally

All is well! Juanita has been home for three weeks now and her white cell count is better than normal!!She has a lot of pain sometimes but just
because of all the chemo that killed her nerve endings. She is managing with a patch and sometimes dilatid. She will be checking into Cedar Sinai on the
1st of May and recieving her transplant from Germany on the 9th which is when they do the transplant. She is such a fighter and I am so proud of
her. Many thanks from both of us for the awesome Nomads!!!!My stress level is down and so is my BP!! Abrazos, Sally
woody with a view - 4-22-2012 at 02:35 PM
Wow! Great news. She's a fighter for sure!
Eli - 4-22-2012 at 04:35 PM
Great news Sally, bless your sweet heart, as always, hoping the best for Juanita, You and your family.
Skipjack Joe - 4-22-2012 at 04:42 PM
Transplants from Germany. Sounds like she's getting the finest care there is. She's a fighter for sure. Let's all hope she wins this battle.
Killed her nerve endings. What a terrible thing to endure. Surely modern medicine can do better. This is like the inquisition.

Good to hear Sally!
Sallysouth - 4-24-2012 at 04:18 PM
Thanks Igor,Woody Sara and David! This will be the biggest fight of all.She will be without ANY immune defense and hoping and praying the donors stem
cells are not rejected.Donor day is now May 9.Send all the good energy you have on that day especially Nomads!! Sally
Skipjack Joe - 4-24-2012 at 04:45 PM
How will them stem cells be used?
The chemotherapy completely destroyed her immune system? Wow. It's gonna be a long recovery.
Sallysouth - 4-24-2012 at 11:26 PM
No Igor, but it will when she goes in for her bone marrow transplant. The donors blood will be flown from Germany, frozen, and then tested for any
impurities, then it is spun at a high force to separate the stem cells. Then the transplant begins. It is infused into Juanitas blood. If all goes well,
the donors' cels will be accepted. If not, major organ damage or worse. We are all very positive for the outcome. She will be in isolation for 28 days
after the procedure. All emails will be so very welcome at that time.Thank you for being a concerned Nomad.

OMG Jorge!! Marko and I split one last night and it was, I swear, the best orange I have ever had!! Really meaty and sweet.Thank you so much for all
the goodies for Juanita!I kept two oranges and three baby zuchs.I have the g-kids sometimes and they love oranges.Maybe I will come and get some roses
for Juanita tomorrow. When she goes in to the hospital she won;t be seeing anything live or lovely. She loved the sweetpeas!! Hugs to you and the gals!

Sweet Sally.... So many prayers I have for Juanita as she continues this walk through fire. May she survive this ordeal and return to playing with
her children.... outdoors.... in Baja.

It sure sounds like Juanita will be OK---she has fought so many tough battles and she is winning the war!
Mulegena - 4-25-2012 at 03:06 PM
Written on the calendar of my heart, a prayer sent in meditation today, every day.
Sallysouth - 4-26-2012 at 11:29 PM
Thank you Baja Nomad Gals! (and guys) I will keep you updated.
Sallysouth - 6-15-2012 at 09:36 AM
I haven't posted an update for a while because, quite frankly, all news has been horrible. As of yesterday, Juanita has started to be able to keep down
small amounts of food. That is GOOD news. She has had extremem pain in her knee and was on morphine for some time, really doped up.She had many sores in
her mouth, on her lips and throat. She could barely speak. She has been in isolation for six or more weeks now. They gave her an injection in her knee
and the pain is subsiding, her wounds are healing and her spirits are lifting!!Finally the turn around we have been waiting for is happening! So when
they release her she will be staying in a motel or apartment close to Cedar-Siani because she will need to be checked on three times at least, a
week.Hopefully her girls will be able to spend some time with her there. They are living with me now and school is out next week so it should work
out.Not out of the woods yet but any good change is cause for hope and relief!! Thank you all so much for all the kind words and wishes/prayers!! I'll
update again soon. Sally
shari - 6-15-2012 at 09:40 AM
hurray for the turn around Sally...thanks for the update..I was wondering how she was doing and sounds like good news today...animo!
Natalie Ann - 6-15-2012 at 09:40 AM
This is good news, Sally - that Juanita seems to have 'rounded that bend in her recovery and perhaps things will be easier for her from now on.
Candles are still lit for her and for all of you.

Skipjack Joe - 6-15-2012 at 09:54 AM
Thanks for update Sally. I have been waiting for it every day, knowing that the longer it takes the more likely the news will be bad. Now there is a
sense of relief.
Eli - 6-15-2012 at 10:02 AM
Orele, I will keep hoping for the upward swing to continue in her favor, may she soon have her babies in her arms again. Pobrecita, dear Juanita, she
sure has been thru the wringer.
bajajudy - 6-15-2012 at 10:41 AM
