Just returned from San Felipe. We stopped at the relief center in Colonia de la Puerta. They are in need of bottled water, diapers, tarps, tents, and canned food. Donations can be dropped off by the fire station at KM36 on the West side of Hwy. 5 There is also a distribution center at KM32 on the East side of HWy. 5 (it is about a block off of the highway at the soccer field).
The road between Mexicali and San Felipe is in good shape, repairs were made very quickly and any remaining bumps are well marked. We saw nothing like the pictures posted from Hwy. 2 We did see, however, plenty of flooding in the agricultural area south of Mexicali. It seems everyone is living in tents. If you are heading down Hwy. 5, please drop off what you can. Costco is a great place to get canned meat, bags of pinto beans, rice, etc. Milk that doesn't need refrigeration is also appreciated.
