Stories abound concerning abhorrent behavior on the streets during Gay parade activities in Hillcrest, as well as other gay enclaves. I don't have to be an eyewitness to be aware of it. Outrageous behavior makes the news when it affects other citizens and they let it be known.

I didn't go to the moon either, but I know someone did.

Against the law? That's funny. Law turns a blind eye during these bacchanals because the city mayor is usually out in the street dancing with someone's pool boy....just for the solidarity photo op and the gay vote...of course.

"Actress Judy Garland is widely considered a gay icon; The Advocate has called Garland "The Elvis of homosexuals."[1] The reasons frequently given for her standing as an icon among gay men are admiration of her ability as a performer, the way her personal struggles seemed to mirror those of gay men in America during the height of her fame, and her value as a camp figure.[2] Garland's role as Dorothy Gale in The Wizard of Oz is particularly noted for contributing to this status."

Just your opinion, of course, and not much more. I don't see Dennis's position as being radical, or in any kind of "hole" at all. He basically reflects my position, and I have no problem finding adaquate "oxygen".

You lefty folks are soooooo intolerant!!!! judgemental!!!! and narrow-minded, it seems to me, when evaluating folks that don't agree with you.

motoged - 11-13-2013 at 06:01 PM

Barry,
The "hole" I am referring to is the "foxhole" Dennis offered as part of his position in an earlier post....

And for me, this is not about left or right as much as about compassion for others. Too bad that for some folks, thinking is simplistically reduced and categorized politically in a us-them/ right-left / right-wrong framework.

"Each to their own" may be considered "lefty", or, as others have expressed....as being tolerant.

Enough said on my part. this topic is "getting old". I have expressed my position as best I can....some have reflected similar thinking....and others the polar opposite. Such is life.

I am not saying that my position is correct....it is just my opinion....and one which is just as relevant as yours, Dennis's, or anyone else's.

Glad you have enough oxygen....we can both breathe easily....and that is what counts.

Thanks Barry....thought I was alone here.
Anyway....I was getting tired of responding to the posts that really made no point other than saying, over and over, I was anti-gay without being able to point out anything in my posts that might indicate that.
I am, and admit to be, anti- extraneous gay behavior in public. Displays of sexuality of all types should be kept off of main street. Those streets belong to the kids too, and I wouldn't feel comfortable seeing my kids at a gay pride parade when the premise of their existence is sexuality....sometimes bizarre.

Ateo - 11-14-2013 at 06:21 AM

Dennis,

I took my 11 and 14 year old kids to gay pride parade in Hillcrest this year. We had a great time and didn't see ay BJ's in the street.

I think it was definitely a "teaching moment", and I believe both kids are better because of the experience.

We should change the name of this thread to "Tolerance in Punta Banda??"

:LOL::lol::lol::lol:

I think what we have here is the difference in what a kid is taught in 1940's vs. what a kid is taught in 2013.

They're not "fairies, fruits, and pool boys". They are human beings. They are someone's kids. A different roll of the dice and you could've been gay. Would your currently configured "straight" self be talking crap on the gay Dennis?

You're smart enough to know that your words here are doing nothing other than hurting the gays and lesbians on this board.

I'm heading south in about 20 minutes. I should be at the turnoff in Maneadero in about 3 hours. Wanna meet me for a beer at Canadas? JK, too early for beer...................

My folks would take me to Barnum and Bailey Circuses when I was a kid. From then on, I had fantasies about being like Clyde Beatty. Point is....how would you know what it taught your very impressionable kids?

Quote:

Your kids most likely learned a lot that day, but you didn't teach it to them. They absorb what they learn from their environment.
Besides....how could possibly begin to teach your kids something of which you claim to know nothing about?

In closing out that point.....I couldn't care less what your kids learn, think or do, but don't think they weren't affected past the point of confusion by their day at the parade.

Let's not disparage one of the major food groups for the sake of making a pointless point.

OK....once again, I reiterate my only point: gay doesn't bother me. Not in the least.
Blatant public displays of alternative life-style sexual behavior do...and if you try to sell the point that a pride parade doesn't most freely exhibit these qualities of behavior, your deluding yourself, and your kids.

I don't see many "differing opinions." Only blind, reasonless disagreement with my opinions.

"Where's the Beef?" ...........[ooops.....no pun intended].

Jeeezo, Ged.....you guys are like a bunch of civil rights nautzees in the 70's that only want to shout and demand understanding for a behavior you wouldn't begin to tolerate in front of your own home.
I'll leave you here with one question: "Would you hire Liberace and RuPaul to babysit your fourteen year old son?" :o :lol:

Maybe not....huh.

Hypocrisy is the most egregious sin being committed here.

Another thing........I only respond when I see my name, or references to my points. There's a good way to bring it all to an end.

Dennis,
Do you always answer your own questions to suit your position?

My 14 year old son did not need a babysitter as he was mature enough to behave himself on those occasions.

You seem to be back to your assumptive logic that all gay men will sexually abuse a male child. Have you dealt with your abuse issues in any other way than the fear we see you spewing?

Uhhhhh, another example of the "Pot calling the Kettle black"?!?!?!?!?------talk about "Assumptive logic" (key word 'assumptive')!!!! IMO Dennis NEVER said, or even inferred, any of what you claim. He seemed to me to be talking about the odds of something possibly happening------we ALL evaluate the "odds" when making ANY decision-----or at least rational people do!!! eh???

Although lame, as well as obvious, I'll take your reply as affirmation that you understand the question, but choose to avoid it's meaning.

Quote:

Never my premise, statement or feelings, whatsoever. Show me where it was!!!
Mine is, and always has been that promiscuous uni-sexual conduct, or any other type for that matter, has no place in a public setting, such as a pride parade on Main Street. I further contend that neither RuPaul, nor Liberaceesque men would be acceptable male models for the emotional development of an impressionable young boy unless you think that the proper use of cold-cream for makeup removal is just what a second baseman for the Yankees should be aware of.

Again...the Gay Pride Parade.........who with any reasonable degree of objectivity doesn't see and understand that these parades have a sexual basis for their existence?

Here ya go. Look through them again and keep in mind, these were the ones fit to print in mainstream media. I would imagine the cutting room floor was knee deep in rejects:

I was doing a bit research when this thread came up and discovered that Magic Johnson's son is gay. His mother said that she knew it as early as 5. "A mother senses these things".

Anyway, I wonder how many of us would think differently if our own child was gay.

Oh yes, and there was a guy on you tube from the Midwest whose parents kicked him out of the house after he repeatedly tried to change, even contemplated suicide, but could not. It was unbelievable. They tried to drive the evil out by really painful methods. Really sad, actually.

There are always individual horror-stories----------which are only truly relevant to those involved, and not a reason for discrimination against non-gays. We have laws on the books to handle these situations.

My cousin is VERY obviously gay, and a PHD in Russian Literature. I also have a very good friend who is noticeably gay (thru dialect) and runs a very successful Cattle Ranch in Utah--------neither has absolutely ANYTHING to do with how I feel about some "gays" and their in-your-face antics which I find deplorable and offensive!!! similar to how I feel about Skin-head-Natzies and KKK folks and Black Panthers who also shove things in other peoples faces.

Nonsense. Show one point which I've made that wasn't comparative to a counter-point.
Show one point which I've made that was intolerant to acceptable, tolerant behavior.
Am I intolerant when I object to seeing men in crotchless cowboy chaps and nothing else as they prance down a public street?
Am I intolerant when I object to men swapping blowjobs on the sidewalk, in front of Gawd and families with children at a gay pride parade?
Their behavior can be disgusting when they flaunt their life style within their environment, which, sadly, bleeds over into mainstream American society. My society.

If they would keep their perversions in their bedrooms, like most hets do, they wouldn't be getting heat from people like me.

I'm tired of your defense of this behavior, ged. You are socially out of line.

What a classic homophobic post using the most negative things said about gay people and what they do in pubic, and then turn around and say, show me where I'm intolerant.

Look in the mirror Dennis.

BTW great analogy by another "Nomad" member looking at the behavior of heterosexuals at the " Mardi Gras in New Orleans, where it's common for young drunk women to bare their naked breasts for "beads" from down below on the street or on the balcony, and speaking of down below, these young women will sometimes lift their skirts, and get completely naked, while the men will urinate in the streets and run around acting like complete drunken idiots looking for pure debauchery fun!

Oh What outrage of these so-called straight woman baring it all, and sometimes in front of little kids!

Speaking about not doing it in front of you. It wasn't too long ago that a gay couples had the police looking in bedroom windows to see what kind of sex two consenting adults were engaged in. I'm talking about the landmark Lawrence v. Texas Supreme court case that overturned a Texas law prohibiting consensual, private sexual activity between gays.

I really like how you and your ilk Dennis try to turn things around and claim you're a victim to gays who are trying to shove their lifestyle down your throat.

But like I said earlier older people especially ultra conservatives are set in their ways and their beliefs. Nobody can change those long held views. The younger generations by and large don't hold intolerant positions against gay people, and same sex marriage will be recognized in the majority of US states, and eventually will be federally recognized like regular marriage between a man and a woman. And all the old dinosaurs who hold intolerant views towards gays will die off and become pretty much extinct.

Dennis let Barry speak for himself.

And now who is the one who is trying to start trouble around here now?

I told you before Dennis you're not the moral arbitrator on "Baja Nomad," and your ultra conservative viewpoints, and I'm putting it nicely are now in the minority in this country, especially about same-sex couples, and gay civil rights.

BajaBlanca - 11-14-2013 at 04:54 PM

the original question Are gays more tolerated here seems to be YES. At least here in La Bocana, BCS, I see them as an integral part of our village.

I am going to ask one of them his opinion on this.

BajaBlanca - 11-14-2013 at 04:56 PM

On a sidenote: my adopted son is gay and only came out at 27. I knew he was gay even when he was little (age 2). He could no more change his propensity than I could change my height or eye color.

Your friend's behavior seems properly subdued, by all means.
When's the last "het" wedding you went to when the bride and groom humped each other at the foot of the altar?

I really like how you and your ilk Dennis try to turn things around and claim you're a victim to gays who are trying to shove their lifestyle down your throat.

But like I said earlier older people especially ultra conservatives are set in their ways and their beliefs. Nobody can change those long held views. The younger generations by and large don't hold intolerant positions against gay people, and same sex marriage will be recognized in the majority of US states, and eventually will be federally recognized like regular marriage between a man and a woman. And all the old dinosaurs who hold intolerant views towards gays will die off and become pretty much extinct.

Huh???? None of what you say has anything to do with the points being made by Dennis, et al. (Why am I not surprised?) Try concentrating on what is said, for once------I know it's hard, but you really should work on this as your statements are so nutty and off-point, and damage what little credibility you may have. I had some hope for you after some of your salient points on Investing and Economics, but then you do this???? Just Crazy!!!! and so self-destructive!!! it seems to me.

Here's the problem, Dennis: guy comes home from a long business trip abroad, his wife meets him at the airport. "Oh, honey, I'm so glad you're home!" They share a kiss. Awwwww.

Now pretend it's two men. OH NO GAY IN PUBLIC.

Do you see the double standard yet?

As I said before—and surely I can't be the only 'out' person on these boards—I'd settle for being ignored in a situation like the second one. You don't have the right not to be offended, sorry to say... if that were the case, I can think of about twenty million bleeding-heart liberals who'd be vindicated at every mention of a politically incorrect word.

Polyamory and homosexuality.

Great article. I thought too long to post so here is the site:

http://www.slate.com/blogs/outward/2013/10/16/is_polyamory_a...

Being very involved with the polyamory community and having both a gay and a straight son the information in this article I find very well founded and written.

"What matters is that people love each other, treat each other with respect, and live happy, productive lives."

What he/she presented was mostly indecipherable for me.
Anyway, defensive....tolerance....same thing in this particular case, if that's the way you want it. Who the fak cares anymore.
You, and most other frauds here, have a NIMBY private attitude toward gays and you are the one's apprehensive gays have to look out for....not those who lay their true feelings on the table.

"It isn't the man who comes out and says he doesn't like you that you need to watch out for....it's the man who says he's your friend."

I think I heard something like that somewhere, but it came to mind like it's mine......and here, mine alone.

By your baloney numbers I have to assume 25% of the population has removed themselves from the pool of humans that are biologically concerned with propagation of the human species.
What indigestible, baloney crap.

I don't believe homosexuals are born as such. I believe everybody is a product of their environment.
Gays......straights...homos...queers.... dykes...cal'em what you will...are all formed from day one of their life on earth. There is no queer gene, and we arn't brainless ducks.
There is however a propensity for the species to be straight and biologically interested in reproduction.

What a cop out Barry, especially when you're taking shots at me.

Here is what I think. I think many ultra conservatives harbor these homophobic thoughts towards gays, but since we are living in modern times, and many people are generally more tolerant. It's no longer cool to show hateful homophobic feelings towards gay people, just like it's no longer political correct to use the "N" word against blacks, although racism towards blacks is still quite active in this nation, and the racist remarks are more hidden. The same thing with Mexican immigration in this country. It's not PC to say even among conservatives that I hate Mexican immigrants, and so you'll hear, " it's not immigrants that I hate, it's only the illegal Mexican immigrants that I hate, and they will go on with the most vile hateful remarks against undocumented Mexicans, But when you call these people on their bigotry, they say, "who me, no I'm not a bigot, it's only the illegal Mexican immigrant I hate. I'm not a racist!"

You just know these types will freak out if any Mexican moved in next door to them papers or not. Well I think the same thing is going on with with thread about gays, a certain kind of homophobic person will act like a victim , and say it's the gays that are shoving down their lifestyle down my throat and I'm not going to take it. It's almost laughable to hear these types claim they harbor no homophobic views when they seem to live to bash gays directly, indirectly and claim they are the actual victim here against gay radicals.

People are people, you can't stereotype them. I had a very dear older male gay friend. I have also had some good friends who were totally heterosexual. I have had friends of color who were better friends than friends my own race. Just because a person is "gay" I think it is ridiculous to lump them into one category and generalize about them. Anyone who lumps people in a category without looking at them individually, has not fully matured socially. Joe, let them be. If they want to take such a one dimensional view of the world, that's their prerogative.

The guy is outrageous in some of his "skits", as he says and does so many "inappropriate" things (some are certainly "politically incorrect") that we realize are inappropriate....but are so damn funny.

He survives many situations that one might think would lead to fisticuffs....but the tolerance of folks is impressive.

The movie turns as it goes on and brought a tear or two to my eye near its ending as it had a point to the story.

If you can, go see it.

Some Old White Guys can pi$$ some people off, for sure.....

The guy in the movie was poking fun and pushing the limits....but people's tolerance won out in the end....and the Old White Guy's heart opened up.

EnsenadaDr - 11-16-2013 at 09:53 AM

There are many effeminate characteristics that are caused genetically that affect the sex Chromosomes, Klinefelter's for one, in which a male has an extra X chromosome, and Turner's for another. Klinefelter's can cause breast development in a male, widened hips, and infertility due to lack of sperm production or very little sperm production. Turner's has one X chromosome missing or totally absent in the female, which can cause absent ovaries, webbed neck, short stature. The production of testosterone in the body is another genetically determined factor, and less testosterone may give way to female tendencies. I agree, that some if not all of sexual preference can be due to heredity.

Where, in the name of gawd, does it say you, Ged or any other self-righteous jerk here is in a position to "TOLERATE" me, or anyone else? It's like, "Gee....thanks for your permission to be myself."
SCREW YOU.

And I'm a racist? Why TF am I a racist? Because I said some Black parents make up names for their kids?
Well...they do. Have you listened to an NFL game lately? Wake TF up.
You guys may not warrant the term "Racist", but you are holier-than-thou and arrogant. Far worse than any racist on earth.

The "Misogynistic" part is just knee-jerk mudslinging Boolsheit. I won't even ask why it's there.

Skeet,

Ahhh, the price of admission....:saint:

What kind of fishing do you get to do these days?
I have yet to fish in Baja. While not interested in going for billfish and that sort of thing, I would like sometime to go out and try to catch something to eat, or just throw back into the chuck.

Years ago in Oaxaca state (Puerto Angel) I was invited to go out in a fisherman's panga with a gentleman and his son at 6:00 A.M. I spoke very little Spanish, sat in the front of the panga for several hours while they trolled for whatever (caught some kind of tuna about 15-24" long on a simple uncolored wood plug w/ hook....maybe some bait?).

I felt honoured to have been invited the day before simply by sitting on the pier and showing an interest in their work....

I watched the sun rise over the ocean, saw rays jumping/flying in the distance, saw turtles, and felt the kindness of the fisherman's invitation.

He was tolerant of this young gringo who couldn't speak the language....but opened up an experience for me I will never forget.

I was tolerant of the swells and didn't get seasick ...as I have been sailing off Vancouver Island in a 30' double-ender that had been built by a Canadian fisherman of Japanese descent (and whose boat was confiscated during WWII).

So many things to encounter in life that requires one form of tolerance ....or not.....as I realize that intolerance is on the continuum of tolerance.

"Mogoat" .....I still like that better than "Motgeo" :saint:

Nice here, hunkering down with all those bullets and daggers flying over my head. In the end, boiled down, all these thousands of words won't change a damned thing. Everyone will pop out the end still convinced "their way is the right way".

Where's the damned image of the 2 bull elk rutting when I need it.
