There was an article in the San Diego paper last week that said the road would not be opened until December at the earliest. Problems with cracks,
etc.David K - 9-15-2014 at 08:55 AM

So is Hwy 1 open between La Fonda and Ensenada???Ateo - 11-12-2014 at 07:02 AM
The toll road is still closed. The free road is open.EnsenadaDr - 12-22-2014 at 11:54 AM
Yes the toll road is open. I drove it Friday from La Fonda to Ensenada. My car was still rocking and rolling, very uneven pavement in the area of
repair. Yes I survived Suicide Run!!!
Here in La Mision we are celebrating the reopening of the Toll Road and the end of the detour through our Colonia. I post no thoughts on the
sustainability of this road through this geologically unsound area castaway$ - 12-27-2015 at 03:01 PM
So the road is open from TJ to Ensenada?
Sounds like some of the road is open, we are planning a trip in January and it would be nice to know in advance if I need to plan an alternate route. willardguy - 12-27-2015 at 03:15 PM
both routes are wide open, I always opt for the free road, take your pick!bajaguy - 12-27-2015 at 03:32 PM
Toll road is open and clear. They are continually doing repairs and patching on the section from El Mirador to the San Miguel toll booths, survey
crews are out everyday checking for slippage.
You can tell by the patching and the swales that whole area is not an "if" but a "when" castaway$ - 12-27-2015 at 03:43 PM
