Trip report

advrider - 2-4-2025 at 09:18 PM

I'm hoping to do a live trip report as we travel Baja next month. Our friends have starlink so that will help. My question is, do we still have to resize pictures to post them? In the past this has prevented me from posting as I go because it was a pain with my phone.

I might try it with my new tablet and see how it works. What is the easiest way or app to do the resizing with? Any other pointers are welcome.

As far as I know posting normal photos or resizing them is still an enormous endeavor.

Imgur is easy

It is quite easy without reducing image size but you need to host the photos on a website, either your own or postimage.org as detailed in the first post in the photo forum here.

As I have done for others, I can walk you through the steps or even post photos for you.

I started using Spotwalla for sharing location and photos on my Baja rides. It's a little cumbersome to set up but works great. My family can know I'm OK. It works on my iPhone but also supports the inferior phones.

Why is there an extra step to host photos on a website? On every other forum, all one has to do is post a photo directly from the poster's own files.

You need to ask Doug that question.

I have Smugmug so maybe I can do it on the site, so it is easier. I tried on my phone using a resizing app and it was a pain. I'll go back and read page 1 and check with my host site.

On my Samsung phone, when you go to edit a photo, there is an option to resize it. Choose the size you want, click save, post the photo.
This is not the only forum that has size limits on photos.

On the public computers I've been using, to resize a jpg all you do is open it, right click on the image, resize it and save it. Very fast and easy.

Photos are so important! Maybe Doug can enlist the help of a youngster - they can figure out anything!

Have a wonderful trip.

One of our hotel guests has told us that La Bocana has a lot of new folks building. Maybe you want to go check it out? Fishing is great, the views are great and the margaritas at the beach restaurant are some of the best around.

BajaBlanca, we were talking about swinging by there at some point. When we stayed at your place on our motos, you set us up for dinner at Jacks place, name might be wrong. Really good dinner at a guy's house in town.

Could you send me his info, if he's still doing that. Thanks
