SENTRI

Udo - 2-23-2025 at 01:24 PM

I live here and I am supposed to know this #hit!

However...I purchased a second vehicle, and I am trying to add it to my SENTRI pass
I logged into my TTP portal. Within their web page there is a section where you can add the second vehicle. The vehicle does have a registration number.
But I have logged into their TTP portal many times, since August of last year.
How,and when, am I supposed to get some kind of notice from the SENTRI people that it is OK to start using the new vehicle with my SENTRI permit? I have been waiting about 6 months now, and my current vehicle is about to be sold.
I am thinking that perhaps it would be best to just go ahead and use my old vehicle. Then take the registration of my new vehicle to the SENTRI gate and ask them for a current status of my second vehicle.
The other Idea I came up with is to just go ahead and drive the new vehicle trhough the SENTRI lane along with a copy of my current TTP registration number. BUt I don't want to give the SENTRI peoplean excuse to take away my permit.
As you SENTRI users know, SENTRI personnel are extremely rude, and use any excuse to confiscate a SENTRI permit.

Thanks for your help!

Last time I added a car I got approval within 24 hours. When you say no registration number, do mean no vin number?. An option might be to spend an hour on hold to speak to a human. As you noted, they have no sense of humor if you are not in the correct lane.

Log in and update it. I drove thru on accident in my wife's car which wasn't registered and the dude told me to change it that night online. I did. DONE.

Now, we've waited 1.5 year to get conditional approval for my wife! Still waiting....I blame Trump! JUST KIDDING.

Just have to keep waiting until it shows approval.
I have had approvals in 24 hours and have waited a year for another vehicle. The system is not efficient.

Thank you!

I am willing to do that, however, no one answers the phone at the SENTRI offices.

No one answers the phone ? Boy I'm really surprised.

Don't worry the guy in charge will fix everything. :?:

Might not need to pay taxes in the future. No one in the office.

Hope none of you are on Medicaid

The new world order.

Russian language course anyone ?

How does a member get the password for the Off Topic forum? I might want to post there sometime, so that my wisdom might be chronicled ;)

I'm sorry guys I shouldn't have posted my last post.

Just had my best friend lose his job working for the government for 20 plus years so I was upset.

I'll stick to Baja posts :light:

Thanks for the password, Lencho.

Thanks also to Baja Nomad for maintaining such a forum on this website. In a world where censorship seems to be winning, it is refreshing to know that there are still some venues where people can freely express themselves.

I know what you mean Ligui, I have friends working for the US Forrest Service, and they are fretting for their jobs. That is one government department that is near and dear to me.

As indicated by others here, I'm not an expert, but when you go to renew your Sentri, maybe consider Global Entry instead. You can use/drive any vehicle across border, not just the ones registered with Sentri.

As I noted on a parallel post....
I applied for my new car to be added on Monday
Got it approved yesterday (Wednesday)
Hard to understand the wide range of service we seem to receive
Just happy that this one is over and done for now
Have to recycle both of our accounts in two years, but for now it is all good

Congress has never provided sufficient funds for TSA and CBP screening. The land border xings all got great new buildings, but the inspection booths are understaffed, leading to empty i inspection booths and long waits to cross border.
Same at our airports, the TSA lines are long because TSA is underfunded.

Elon is cutting what little staff there are, arbitrarily cutting all new staff as if new staff are never required. Things will only get worse.

No need to get political. Anyone crossing the border often can see how there is a lot of staff standing around doing nothing. Especially true in the secondary inspection areas.

Seems like the right time to having employee accountability. Absolutely no excuse for year long waits for approvals.

isn't that the truth! but boy have they streamlined the interview part. I arrived over an hour and a half early asked my name and told to take a seat. couple minutes later I was sent to one of the manned kiosk's asked if I was a citizen, fingerprinted, eye scanned adios. five minutes and back to mexico. La Cienega by LAX
