From Baja Pilots International

Oh my

"Sandra Johnson called me yesterday to inform me that the Johnson’s have lost ownership of the hotel and after Easter which is sold out, they must leave. We must not speculate on the situation but she said it is larger than they can fight She said she cannot say more at this time but will talk to me later Other than Easter, all reservations including the NORRA reservations have been canceled Let’s hope and pray for the Sisters that this will reverse itself but the future is dim at this time."

What is the future plan for the hotel?

took awhile but they persevered once before.......good luck!

We sold out of BCS in 2015 after a 30 year run. Can't count the number of times we stayed at the Serenidad but all were wonderful. As things continue to change down there AND in the USA, we are left with great memories and lucky we were there THEN. Sad.

What...no WIFI or TV? Does this mean we would be forced to socialize and communicate with others, maybe learn some Spanish while we were at it? I dunno...sounds pretty retro to me. Can a person still book a lace there or is it being closed?

Damn, something else as just a memory. Boy, the good times had at the Serenidad. Back in the 80's a group of guys and I, after striking out on fish at Bay of LA, took the chance and drove to Mulege that afternoon. We got there late afternoon after driving the desert for the first time, and found the Serenidad. Parked in the parking lot and when we walked thru the arch, we thought we had gotten to heaven. After that it became a destination for fishing and fun for quite a while until we moved our base to Chivato. But always made trips there for breakfast or dinner. Goooood Margaritas. Whoo. Sad, but wonderful memories

I recall that about 20 years ago, the Ejido took over the hotel by force and guns.
After a lengthy court battle in Mexico City, the original owners finally got legal possession

Perhaps this is starting all over again.

Wednesday's Mexican buffets and Saturday night's pig roasts! Those were the days.

Nice!! That is my plane in the background (throught the trees) behind your plane and me sitting at the bar in the last photo. I remember talking to you - if I remember right you headed down to Punta Pescadero the next day. I sold my plane not to long after, it was my last flight to Mulege. Bummer if they close it down, the Daughters had started fixing it up.

any late info on the status of the hotel?

It seems open
no signs of forced closure

"invasion" implies illegal taking by force. "Eviction" indicates taking legally.
Which is it, invasion or eviction?

LancairDriver - 5-27-2025 at 08:01 AM

The Ejido mob is probably busy tearing out the air conditioners, plumbing, beds, and the booze from the Bar, as normal from the last time they invaded. Sad situation that will not produce any economic benefit for the people of Mulege particularly those living in dirt floor shacks in the area near the hotel.
