The last 5 years or so it has gotten harder and harder to buy live shrimp in certain areas of BCS. Both the fisherman and especially their buyers,
who often finance the shrimp pangeros are fearful of possible repercussions from a side hustle. Them who control or want to control that fishery want
all the shrimp.
About 6 years ago we explored the idea, in a well known seafood hub of BSC, of setting up the shrimp pangero fleet with TEDs, which were not in place
then and marketing their catch into the USA as an artisanal, local, cooperative, sustainable shrimp fishery.
It did not take very long for word to arrive that was a bad idea. Thus I returned to plan A, rascando mi panza, llena, corazon contento, patos encima
la tierra, no por abajo.
