Wow - you really packed a lot in - looking forward to the report.
Just posted Part 1. Yes, a lot in three days. Actually two, as day 3 was just the drive home from San Felipe South Campos.
You will really enjoy the El Volcán photos. It is very easy to drive and walk to. The mine road drops into Arroyo El Volcán for a bit rather than
simply cross it, as before. Easy to drive off the mine road and up the arroyo for a tiny ways before the 1/4 mile walk begins.gueribo - 5-14-2025 at 10:16 AM
The San Francisquito site . . . what a piece of history!David K - 5-14-2025 at 12:00 PM
The San Francisquito site . . . what a piece of history!
Yes, and all it is now (or was then) is a place where the shallow water table was exposed by a depression in the sand. Very much like a 'coyote well'.
We were fortunate to have the 1959 Howard Gulick photos to try and dial in that location against the background boulders and hills. Today, the water
is exposed a few hundred feet south and perhaps on the east side of the highway bridge, where CaminoRealBaja.com took a photo and you can see a pond
on Google Earth (also a couple other spots in the area look like water if not shadows.
It is always fun to be standing and walking on El Camino Real!
Stay tuned to the trip reports page for more photos and data!BoenBaja - 5-15-2025 at 06:58 PM

Thank you!
At my stage in life, I never know when the 'last' trip will be. So, I pack as much as I can into any trip I take! I was sure grateful when Dave W.
suggested we go down Mex 1 to see all the sites we could along it before hitting Mex 5 for the sites there (which was my original goal).
Yesterday, I finished Part 3 and this morning, I added a map to it.
Now, on to Part 4... Two more missions, petroglyphs, onyx and a geyser!
