Possible storm track? (Flossie updates)

AKgringo - 6-26-2025 at 10:06 AM

Windy is showing a threat to the cape area! It is a forecast for a storm a week out, but it is worth watching what happens for the next few days.

I saw something similar on weathernerds.org:

SFandH - 6-26-2025 at 02:56 PM

windy.com shows it hitting Cabo one week from today. There's a lot of uncertainty one week out.

As I said earlier, it is worth watching! Yesterday it did not show it with much of an impact, but the link SF&H posted looks more threatening than when I posted mine five hours ago.

Then again, it could still fall apart or head west before reaching the cape.

The 10-day forecast for Todos Santos reflects the current models bringing rain to the area by next week.

I just hope Flossie brings us much needed rain

If the forecast models are any indication, Flossie just might floss Baja California Sur.

Sure enough, Flossie became a tropical storm but it seems likely to become a tropical depression as it nears Baja.

pauldavidmena - 6-30-2025 at 06:54 AM

As of this morning, the projected path shifted slightly to the west, and the projected arrival time is now Friday instead of Thursday.

SFandH - 6-30-2025 at 10:01 AM

windy.com agrees with the above.

Windy rain and thunder mode

AKgringo - 6-30-2025 at 10:45 AM

If you switch from the wind speed model to rain and thunder, it looks like southern Baja will get some water delivered without getting blown apart!

ligui - 6-30-2025 at 11:54 AM

Flying into Loreto on Thursday. Looking forward to seeing a little rain if it shows up

Was there when we got about a half an inch a moth ago.

Sure could use a bit more

AKgringo - 6-30-2025 at 01:17 PM

I was in Los Barriles when it rained a few years ago. Until then, I had not realized that the "storm drain" was the low spot down the center of the main road!

pauldavidmena - 7-1-2025 at 05:52 AM

As of this morning, it looks like Flossie might not make a direct hit on Baja after all. One hopes that there might be a stray shower or two, but it will be another few days before we know for sure.

Tropical Storm Flossie is centered near 20.6N 111.7W, or about
170 nm southwest of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico at 03/1500 UTC, moving
west-northwest at 9 kt. Estimated minimum central pressure is
1001 mb. Maximum sustained wind speed is 40 kt with gusts to 50
kt. Latest satellite imagery shows that the system is devoid of
deep convection. Flossie has been reduced to a swirl of low to
mid-level type clouds, and is expected to maintain a general
west-northwestward to northwestward motion during the next couple
of days. Flossie should continue to steadily weaken, with the
cyclone expected to become a post-tropical low later today and a
remnant low tonight. It should dissipate completely by Sat
evening. Swells generated by Flossie will affect portions of the
coast of southwestern Mexico and the Baja California peninsula
during the next few days. These swells are likely to cause life-
threatening surf and rip current conditions.

Anybody down there getting wet right now? I would love to hear a local report from another Nomad.

SFandH - 7-3-2025 at 02:54 PM

Perfect setup for some great surf along the Baja southern west coast.
