Okay question
we are in Yuma Az and planning on going the San Felipe
we have our Passport
I know I need Travel permit, in the Past we would go into Algodones
and go to the Mexican consult as you just cross the border and Pay your fee at the bank at the end of the parking lost
is this still the same
do they take Us Dollars of should we get Pesos before cross?

I have never used the Algodones office to get my FMM, so I don't know if there are any changes there but I always prefer using pesos, and make sure
that they stamp the form!
The new Tourist Tax only applies to Baja Sur, basically from Guerrero Negro south.

The crossing at Algodones has been reconfigured. You will turn right immediately after crossing into Mexico. There will be two lanes with gates
although they both might not be open. There is a parking turn out to the right where the officials will likely tell you to park. You can then walk
back into the office for your fmm. You can pay in the office now, no need to go to the bank. Credit cards accepted (at least for import duty).
You can also cross at San Luis. Park on the left but you have to walk back to the office on the right side of the crossing to get the form and pay.

You have to go to the bank to pay. It is very easy to use a credit card that offers no foreign transaction fees and gives the bank ratefor
exchange. Very safe but I always monitor my card.

When we crossed at Mexicali East POE they would not accept cash for our FMM’s, only a credit card. But this may have been due to the (perceived)
inexperience of the young official.

A couple of years ago the agent at Mexicali west not only took my cash payment, but he filled out the form for me. It wasn't until much later that I
realized that he did not stamp the FMM, which made it useless!
