good day my fellow Nomads,

for those of you who have not seen the documentary "La Recua: The Mule Pack Train" it's now available to watch on PBS. There are multiple ways to watch it, and the details are included in this link;

I just watched it, and it has some new edits, including footage that was not in the original version. Some of you may be aware that the producer of La Recua is Trudi Angell. She also runs Saddling South based out of Loreto. They provide guided mule pack trips in the sierras;

Trudi is working on supporting women from under served communities in the sierras on their journey to becoming skilled, certified, and confident wilderness mule-packing guides. One of the young women she is supporting is also one the riders in La Recua, Azucena Arce.

If you'd like to learn more about her efforts, or even better, help support these young women, you can learn more here;

I know times are tough for all of us, but I'm sure these young women in Mexico would appreciate any amount of support that we could provide.

Be good to each other, and consider paying it forward,

Peace, Love and Fish Tacos

https://www.pbs.org/video/la-recua-the-mule-pack-train-sumid... requires a pledge of $5/ month or more to PBS ... at least that's what I just read at this link.

The film page: https://larecua.com/la-recua-the-mule-pack-train-movie/

It is a good film and I got to see it at a private showing. The star of the show, Dario Higuera, was there, and we met and chatted a bit. This was on June 8, 2024 in Rainbow, CA:

Dario is a good man, a really good leather craftsman and mule skinner extraordinaire. Also living proof of the toll the ranching life extracts from one's health.

What a pleasure to visit both the people and the places we share in Baja. Nicest people on the planet are found in the backcountry, right.

Great photo! When was that taken?

June 2024

They were camping for a few nights on a ranch where I farm.

He and his entourage were making the promotional rounds and I visited for an supper, overnight stay, breakfast and coffee over a campfire. We picked our food from the fields and prepared it fresh. My turn to return the favor.

The same month as my photo with him... in fact, I notice he is in the same shirt!
