Barely news

latitude26n - 4-29-2005 at 10:20 AM

Just to be sure there wasn't a meeting that I missed again ;D, I did a nomad search and did not find this info anywhere.

When did Buenaventura and Requeson become "clothing optional" destinations as this website illudes? (scroll down on the site).

Imagine all the crates of Coke bottles the truck drivers will loose off the side of the road now.

Bruce R Leech - 4-29-2005 at 10:31 AM

this statement is taken from the website. I don't think they are encouraging this behaver but only warning people that the wired Europeans do these things.

Please be advised that those paradisiacal beaches, being visited very often by European tourists, have become swimming suit optional, please don't be offended by the nude bodies normal there, simply nobody notice them and be sure that nobody is or will be rude since everybody respects the family.

latitude26n - 4-29-2005 at 10:37 AM

I see what you mean now that I re-read their site.

But they certainly didn't hesitate to throw in photos of nudies while they were at it.

Playa Escondida

jrbaja - 4-29-2005 at 10:38 AM

is what they are referring to which is not Requeson. And, most all beaches like that are clothing optional because for one, they are hard to get to and for 2, they are very private.

The unfortunate part is, they are soon to be developed and will look nothing like what they are showing.

I think I was misled by the clothing-less girl next to the
Playa Buena Ventura logo.

I thought they were catering to a new clientele.

This struck me as a travel hazard considering the proximity to the Hwy.

Pompano...where do you get all of your great picutures....They have created so many smiles.....

turtleandtoad - 4-29-2005 at 01:14 PM

I've seen partial nudity at both Escondida and Requeson so I can't argue about those statements, and being a card carrying nudist myself I've got no problems with it.

However, I do have two questions.

1) Since when was Requeson a "short walk' from Buenaventura? and;

2) What does JRBAJA mean by "The unfortunate part is, they are soon to be developed and will look nothing like what they are showing. "? Does he know something I don't?

Hate to be the "barer" of bad tidings

jrbaja - 4-29-2005 at 01:35 PM

but I have already seen the plans for #1. A club med style all inclusive resort #2. A number of private luxury homes covering the entire area between Escondida and La Perla.

The guys that have these plans are major Mexican developers and they will probably succeed. The key word here is "Mexican".

I am praying to no one in particular that they are very busy with their other projects for a long long time before this happens.

Those areas are mine and my dogs favorite overnight stops.

Just spent last night at Escondida. It was absolutely beautiful. water like glass, big fat moon, 2 big fat t-bones(made my dogs very happy) on the grill and a school group from somewhere inland that I cant remember. Those kids would have been shocked to see butts and boobs I am sure.
What a wonderful place but as with all the good ones the times they are a changin'
That is why I love my job. I have to go to all these places. I hope to visit all the great ones before they are gone.

bajajudy - 4-29-2005 at 02:22 PM

They talked about the marina in La Playita for 15 years....now it is a reality. This is the last frontier. With so much undeveloped land, it is a natural for investors.
I guess that is my point. If you really want to see Baja, you better get out there and start looking.
Off to Lopez Mateos to see our friends at Cameron Feliz...maybe do a little fishing.
Hasta

Nudist Card

turtleandtoad - 4-29-2005 at 05:39 PM

Actually, I do have a card, in fact I've got a bunch of them. There are about 4 or 5 national (Canadian and US) and international nudist organizations (AANR, FANR, INF, WCAN, etc) and they all issue membership cards.

Most nudist resorts will not allow you to join or visit unless you're a member of one of the major organizations (to keep out the looky-lou's and wierdo's).

The card also gets you access to nudist websites and discounts on all kinds of stuff. Everything from nude cruises to beach towels.

If you're interested in the nudist lifestyle, check out www.aanr.com

One of my dreams is to start a nudist RV resort on the Baja but I'm not sure I could get past the local and state authorities. Between the Europeans, Canadians, and Americans, it would be a real moneymaker. Just look at the success of the "all inclusive" nudist resorts on the Mexican Mainland.

I might be old fashioned but there is nothing sexier than a woman in a long dress. it leaves so much to the imagination.

Maybe this should go on the Spanish forum, but it "fits" this thread so well, I thought I'd let y'all take a shot at translating it.

Barbara cove, an ex-governor going to develop the entire coast from the microondas tower northward to Mulege...the list goes on and on and on....

Hilton Hotels, Stouffler, Banamex, the Israelis, the Italians, the English...so many projects and nationalities so close together. All long forgotten decades ago. Song: the French hate the Germans, the Germans hate the Dutch....and I don't like anybody very much!! Remember that song?

I know I have lots of the old blueprints from these various projects around here somewhere...(they were always looking for someone to invest...I will find and post. Who knows? Maybe it is coming....but don't hold your breath.

Pompano, I'm sure you remember the excitement when Fonatur opened their offices in Mulege around '75. Don J., Alphonso and I went up in Al's plane so I could take some shots of the area north of the microondas for them. I was always told that the contest was between Mulege and Loreto and that Loreto had more political influence. I also met the group who were going to develope Santa Barbara, must have been 12 or so years ago when they built that big gate. Like you I take these plans with a grain of salt, water and electricity are a bigger problem than most think for development around the bay. I was recently told that a government hydrologist did a study of the Mulege aquafer and concluded that pumping will have to be reduced by the farms in the valley and that the ground water there would not be enough for more developement. Desal is great but it takes a lot of energy. I remember being on Playa El Coyote with friends 30 years ago and saying "we better enjoy it now cause there will be a Sheraton here in a few years". I have never been happier to be wrong!

Bruce R Leech - 4-29-2005 at 08:04 PM

seems like about 2 times a year you here about a new project for the Mulege area and over the last 16 years I have seen plenty of blue prints but most of them are just a way to git investors money and disappear.:barf:

Lets git back to the bare essentials on this thread.

What are you guys talking about? The pics still there. I've been twisting the knobs trying to get the fuzziness out but having no luck. I'll keep on trying, though.

<maybe if I twist both together in different directions that'll do the trick>

While looking at the Vagabundos.com web site last month I ran across this post. It says [I'm new here-Alexa] 03/29/05. It is still there. I clicked on it, from there it gives you another site to check. Being curious I checked it out. Sent me to a heavyweight porn site. I guess VP Fred Jones missed this one.
