TIJUANA -- Police in the border city of Tijuana found the bodies of three men, all apparently executed, on Thursday, bringing the total of murders in
the city so far in 2005 to 145.
In a separate case that had also shocked the city, prosecutors suggested the case of a restaurant owner dragged from his Tijuana establishment by
kidnappers Wednesday may have been linked to drug trafficking.
They said the restaurant owner had a criminal record in the United States dating back to 1979. He had been convicted of at least one drug count in the
past.
Of the bodies discovered Thursday, two were found strangled to death inside an SUV on a Tijuana street, according to Baja California state chief
homicides prosecutor Francisco Castro Trenti.
Both men had been bound with adhesive tape.
The third body was found wrapped in a blanket and bound with adhesive tape on a platform of the Otay bus station.
