thinking of doing the road this winter east to west, up and over the pass and on to Todos Santos. Went as far as the pass a couple of years go. Have

That is one of my favorite Baja roads! I tried and failed to drive it last January, because it was wiped out about two thirds of the way from the
east.
I heard that it had been reopened since then, but I can not confirm that, and I have heard nothing about recent storm damage.
If I was down there right now I would try again, because even having to U-turn and drive back the way I came in would be an enjoyable trip.
FWIW......The correct spelling is Los Naranjos. I think it was a family name, not a fruit.

That is a fraction of a fraction of a split second in geologic time.
Time flies when you're having fun.
We took that road about a year after Odile from the west and got up to the top and then a huge washout caused a U-turn. We stopped at two ranchos and
bought fresh cheese. Our friends had worked with local government to install solar powered well pumps some years before so they were familiar with the
locals who were very nice. The flora on the road and up near the top was awesome. It was an enjoyable trip and one I always wished to repeat.

Whenever I cross over the Divide, I plan on finding a secluded spot to spend the night. On one of my stops on that mountain pass I followed a ranch
trail to nice spot with interesting vegetation and a filtered view of the canyon.
My dog and I slept in my SUV, which turned out to be a good plan when in the middle of the night we were surrounded by cattle wearing bells, that were
grazing all around us! I didn't know they grazed at night.

Old news but I ran the road east to west in March. It was a cruiser the entire way, uneventful.

S.S., Thanks for the report and photos. I think what the OP was concerned about was damage from Lorena, which hit Baja Sur pretty hard.
I hear that Todos Santos had a lot of damage, so I fear that the west slope of that mountain pass got hit hard also.

I did receive video from someone on another forum where one short section is actual rock crawling... so do not want to attempt that as a solo vehicle
as elders.
