We are leaving in two weeks. A detour to Bahia Los Angeles is not planned. Is the trip from San Felipe to Guerrero Negro too much to bite off in one
day? The rest of our trip to the Pacific near La Paz is more relaxed, but this stretch has no lodging possibilities, it seems.

That drive is definitely doable. You can always stay the night in Catavina to make it a little shorter drive. But there are hotels in between….have
fun.

Easy 6 hour drive with great scenery. Stop lots and enjoy the views, have dinner in Guerrero Negro.

Fairly easy drive. If needed, there is a hotel at the turnoff to LA Bay on Hwy 1

Agreed, that will be no issue. I usually cross Mexicali around 7am and will get to San Ignacio by 5pm.

Yes, easy (as others say)...
There is lodging at Parador Punta Prieta (The L.A. Bay highway jcn.), a new motel that looks very nice is next door to the abandoned gas station.
There is also a small motel in (Nuevo) Rosarito (Hotel Cactus) and in Villa Jesus María (Hotel Villa del Mar).
Cataviña is not along the route, but 30 miles north on Mex 1 from Laguna Chapala (where Mex 5 meet Mex 1).
See locations mentioned on my map:HERE

Great to reach GN and stay at Halfway Inn (just past military camp) and eat at Mario’s down the road. The Inn is clean enough and always had a
good meal at Mario’s.
