Surf Trip to 7-sisters

fishmaster - 12-30-2025 at 02:57 PM

Greetings,
I'm leaving New Year's for a 20 day surf trip with my daughter. We've been to Baja 30+ times. We are heading to the 7-Sisters area, but haven't been in a few years. I'm curious how the road is in from Santa Rosaliita. We may go as far as El Cardon. Hoping that any heavy rains haven't washed the road out.
Thanks,
Steve

Until you get a more recent update...

The road is graded and pretty well-built. It does get a lot of commercial traffic from the fishing camps and villages, as far north as Punta María.

I traveled it twice, ten years apart (2007 & 2017). Both times the road was the same, a good 2WD-easy roadbed.

I hope you have a great time and will share photos when you return.

Road is bad washboard, as usual. No issues.

Safe travels. I'm heading down in February. Looks like fun surf heading your way. Please give a report when you get back!

Have driven the road North from Santa Rosaliita many times. That's the easy route into the Seven Sisters. Can go pretty fast.

I do like to cut in from MX 1 and then go South towards Santa Rosaliita.

It's beautiful down there. Sounds like a great trip.

Recent rain may have left 7 sisters access a muddy mess…

StuckSucks, if you don't mind my asking, what year did you take the three photos you attached? I'm thinking it must have been several years ago because that location in the middle photo has nowhere near that much sand any more. The last time I saw that much sand there was 10-15 years ago. Thanks!

Yep, the sand on all the points that I am familiar with have been decimated over the last 10 years and the waves have suffered. Totally sucks. I keep trying thinking it will be good and it's always kinda crappy now. :/

I think that was around 10 years ago -- good eye.
