In one place, see historic to recent photos of both mission sites, Comondú Viejo (1708-1736) and the the final site at today's town of San José Comondú.

Photos from Baja Nomads Jack Swords, 'geoffff' (octopup.org), and I, join with photos from Harry Crosby, Howard Gulick, Erle Stanley Gardner, Edward Davis, Arthur North, and others. I also included the mission's chapter from my book, Baja California Land of Missions: https://vivabaja.com/comondu/

Some photo examples...

Mission San José de Comondú, founded in 1708 and relocated to this site in 1736 from Comondú Viejo, 22 miles to the north. Stone church buildings were erected between 1751 and 1761. All but this side chapel were demolished in 1936.
