Greetings, >>> Very nice write- up on Casa Vieja in that loveable, but not so small town of Tecate Baja. It is a great breakfast stop for sure. Am looking forward to your dinner report con mucho gusto! I ran The Pole Line and tackled Arroyo Grande this last weekend. Shot two tyres on one cage (Range Rover). Made it to point >>N 31*27.132 W 115*26.000 about 1.5 miles from the Rancho. Tough ride on 4. Best Regards...sq.

Roy, I am guessing you are talking to me regarding the dinner report... look in my Guadalupe Canyon trip report for a brief mention. I will try and post the Casa Vieja Menu soon... It is big, so I will work on it. The dinner was very good, and we need to get them some Nomad business, as they will be closing soon, otherwise... The city made the curb red, in front... but across the 4 lane street (where there are no businesses or homes), it is green... and that has killed much business... OF COURSE there is parking on the side street and their small lot, too.

Now, please go to the Trip Report Forum and do as Neal requests, and post YOUR trip report there... as this is the restaurant forum! (remember we had a talk about you burying a trip report in someplace it can't be found later, :) )

I would like to add that the owners, Victor and Leticia are very hospitable and serve great food... Leticia speaks English well and was very kind in giving me a menu to take home.

Elizabeth had the Arrachera (a house specialty, top of page 3), which is what was recommended by Leticia... and I had Filete de Pescado Al Gusto (Empanizado).... Both were excellent... and washed down with ice cold BOHEMIA served in an iced, frosty mug!

No room for dessert... Please try Casa Vieja... there is ample parking on the west side street and in their lot off the west side (Cocoyoc).

Hola David, >>>> I mirror your lead on this very especial restaurant in Tecate. That loveable little town has always been my gateway to Baja. Check out the bar La Diana (the huntress) located adjacent and west of the zocalo. Mario makes the best margarita around and uses no mix. LOOK OUT!!! It's high octain. Thanx,>>>>sq.

Greetings David, >>>>> Exactly , what is Arrachera the house speciality top of page 3 on the CASA VIEJA menu? Youth wants to know don't you know. >>>> Regards, >>>> sq.

Arrachera is:
Marinated steak - one recipe includes:
garlic
lime juice
serrano peppers
brown sugar
olive oil
soy sauce
thyme
salt
pepper
london broil or flank steak

Now it's happening again, with your explanation of Arrachera, my tongue is betting bigger one more time. >>>>>>Thanx, >>>>>>>>>sq.

Thanks Neal... we trusted her advice that it was good... the meat we presume was beef, but so tender it could have been veal!

Dave... I think that fact that beer is 18 pesos (vs. 30) makes this THE place for us Nomads to go!

The squarecircle: This place was a really good call on your part, thanks!

Nomads... keep your fingers crossed that I will meet up with Antonio this weekend... we talked by phone a couple days ago and he planned on returning from El Rosario (to Tijuana) tonight or tomorrow... 'got baja?' stickers soon!!
