How do I make sure I find the East Crossing?
The last time I tried this we thought we had done everything right, coming up through Mexicali and turning east a few blocks from the border -- I
think on Av. Americas. We went east toward the airport until we saw a sign for the crossing pointing left at a big intersection (I think there was a
giant Burger King on the SE corner). Somehow we missed that exact corner and had to turn up a side street, and suddenly we were on the one-way road on
the Mexican side of the border that takes you back to the West Crossing -- and a long wait.
Can someone tell me a sure way to find that East Crossing?

Heading North on Mex 5. Pass Costco and make a right turn at the next signal light, by the Kenworth dealer. Stay on this road... It bends left in
about 2 miles and heads north. Continue on this road thru all the signal lights. You will come to one Stop sign. Continue straight ahead till you
come to a monument - milti colored poles sticking up. Make a right turn (you are 1 block from the border fence). This will take you to the new
(East) crossing. By the time you're going back up, Hghy 7 will probably be open from the crossing to I8.
Radio station AM 1230 broadcasts border wait times - but not regularly.
attached shows route from just north of Costco to border.

That's a great map Lou...
Arthur, the other (not as direct, but a no-brainer) route is to head straight for the border fence the traditional way (pass in front of the Hotel
Lucerna) to the street one block BEFORE the one way fence road. That street is one way to the right (east) named Argentina... and takes you all the
way to the east border crossing. I do have the GPS for it in my GPS web page, by the way!

The route David K mentions connects with mine at NB4
Maybe I'll do this on a photo for more detail

Yeah (re: DK's suggesiton) but I think it's "Brazil" NOT Argentina you want to take.
P.S. Sorry about the abruptness of that reply above (in case anyone read it before this edit), but someone came to the door...you know.
Anyway, I think Argentina is the street that parallels the border and is one-way going west. The one-way going east, therefore to the East Crossing,
is Brazil.
We always turn at Costco, so I'm not absolutely certain about this, but it seems to me that when we make that final right-hand (East) turn as we
approach the border it's on Brazil.

We just returned this afternoon from a quick week down south, and DavidK is correct (he probably knew this already and was too polite to correct me).
The street you want, Arthur, is Argentina. For us driving north we come to the traffic light at Brazil and I have used this for several
years as a marker for information to friends to let them know to turn east at the next light which is Argentina.
Today's wait at the border at 1140h was 22 min.
