Sentri lane with global entry?

pacificobob - 7-10-2026 at 10:44 AM

We have global entry. No sentri. The vehicle has nothing.
Can we use the sentri lane to cross into the US?
We rarely visit the old country.

"Global Entry members who wish to drive their vehicle in the SENTRI lanes, must register their vehicle with CBP and schedule an appointment at a SENTRI enrollment center to conduct a 7-point vehicle inspection."

Go onto their site and register it. I didn't need to get my truck inspected.

Thanks for the replies

Nor did I. Add car info at above site. Approval within 24 hrs the last time I did this.

Excellent Pedro.
i applied online yesterday.
one grey area for me is the van.... Built by Ford in 2020with a 2020 VIN#.
Then built out as campervan and subsequently sold as a 2021 and registered as such.
On the application I referred to it as a 2020.i felt if i called it a 2021 it might raise red flags. Any thoughts?

What VIN and Year are on the registration? What VIN is on the vehicle?

Hopefully they match. If so, use that that. If not, oh boy.

VIN on the van and registration are identical. But as we know the VIN indicates the year of manufacture. (2020) When sold it was registered as a 2021... Super common with RVs. Hopefully it won't generate confusion.

RVs cant use sentri. Though maybe a small van type RV can? Sort of a gray area.
I think the sentri lanes have 9 ft max height (those scanner machines) so some sprinter van type rvs may not fit…

That's a good point. Camper vans and the Sentri lanes may be a mismatch. Sentri guys like to look through the window and see an empty car.

Per ChatGTP:

"Yes, camper vans can use SENTRI lanes, but there are important conditions.

If your camper van is essentially a van-based vehicle (such as a Class B motorhome built on a Mercedes Sprinter, Ford Transit, or Ram ProMaster chassis), it may be eligible to use the SENTRI lane if:

Every occupant is an approved SENTRI member (or otherwise eligible under Trusted Traveler rules).

The camper van is registered and approved in your SENTRI/Trusted Traveler account before you use the lane. Vehicles must be approved by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for SENTRI lane use.

However:

Large RVs (Class A and many Class C motorhomes) may not be practical or permitted in some SENTRI lanes because of lane size and port-specific restrictions.

If you're towing a trailer, travel trailer, or fifth wheel, you generally cannot use the SENTRI lane unless the port specifically allows it, and those setups are often directed to regular inspection lanes."

What are your chatgpt settings? Did you turn off hallucinations?
Chatgpt (and most other AI) often makes things up based on what it thinks you want to hear…
