Way back in '91 at my East Cape heaven, we hosted a group of astronomers from near Santa Cruz on our rancho.
They set up various telescopes on all the solar systems happenings for this direct location of a total solar eclipse.
This group of star gazers were a bit eccentric at times, but they knew their stuff.
The complete eclipse happened around noontime. As the shadow moved over the inland after us on the coast, the atmosphere appeared to give a great and
silent exhale and had most of us holding our breath while local bird life went silent and the shadow advanced across the landscape.
This group of star gazers sent all of us property owners a few of the photos they took.
I looked at the rings of Saturn is a memory to treasure.
The 'diamond ring' was a vision I will always treasure.
I made sure I was not doing any damage to my eyesight by using a welders helmet piece of glass over my binoculars when I was not looking through their
telescopes.
The atmosphere literally vibrated for those few minutes of absolute silence.
We all appreciated the gift we had been given with that group astronomers adding greatly to our experience.
The visions I had the fortune to experience on that magical day remain like yesterday, 35 years later.
I did not suffer any vision loss, and in fact. my near sighted astigmatism vision has improved since.
Can I recommend safely watching a total solar eclipse to improve someone's near sighted vision?
Duh.
Timing is everything for all of us Nomads.
If anyone has the chance to witness a total solar eclipse, jump on it.
The magic of the atmosphere literally vibrating is not to be missed.

Love Spain. Been more than a dozen times. My daughter was there two months ago celebrating getting her masters.
Spent probably weeks walking all the alleys off of La Rambla.
